Thai Son Nam won big in the 2023 National Futsal Cup

VnExpressVnExpress09/11/2023

Pivot Nguyen Thinh Phat scored a hat-trick to help Thai Son Nam TP HCM beat Tan Hiep Hung 5-1 in the first round of the 2023 National Futsal Cup on the afternoon of November 9.

Thai Son Nam was rated higher, even without using goalkeeper Ho Van Y. In fact, Mr. Tu's team dominated the game and created many opportunities, but their ineffectiveness caused them to miss quite a few.

It was not until the end of the first half that Thai Son Nam opened the score from a set piece. They were awarded a 10-meter free kick because Nguyen Minh Tri was fouled behind. This pivot (striker) born in 1996 took advantage of it successfully.

Thanks to the lead and adjustments from new coach Nguyen Tuan Anh, Thai Son Nam played more effectively in the second half. After a Tan Hiep Hung player handled the ball in the penalty area, the former champions were awarded a six-meter penalty and Minh Tri scored his second. The 2020 Golden Ball then had a chance to score a hat-trick, but his shot hit the post in front of an empty goal and the rebound hit the crossbar.

The rest was Nguyen Thinh Phat's performance. The Dong Nai Pivot played effectively, scoring three goals to help Thai Son Nam take a five-goal lead. At the end of the match, Tan Hiep Hung scored a goal to shorten the gap.

In the remaining match of Group A, Cao Bang was rated lower but surprisingly defeated Sanvinest Khanh Hoa 2-1. In this match, the Northern team even took a two-goal lead, while the opponent missed a six-meter penalty once.

The 2023 HDBank National Futsal Cup consists of eight teams divided into two groups. Group A includes Thai Son Nam Ho Chi Minh City, Sanvinest Khanh Hoa, Cao Bang and Tan Hiep Hung. Group B includes Sahako, Thai Son Bac, Luxury Ha Long and Hanoi. The teams compete in each group round, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals. The two third-placed teams in each group will compete for fifth place, while the bottom two teams in each group will compete for seventh place. The tournament will take place from November 9 to November 18 at Lanh Binh Thang Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City).

Tomorrow, November 10, defending champion Sahako will meet Luxury Ha Long, while Hanoi will face Thai Son Bac.
