The S-shaped country has always been known as a "treasure" of natural wonders: a Ha Long Bay with a small pristine island, a Ba Be National Park with vast valleys or a Phong Nha-Ke Bang with a giant limestone mountain system.... And in Thanh Hoa, there is also Hieu waterfall, which is likened to a door of nature opening in the middle of a vast forest.

Hieu Waterfall, also known as Hieu Pu Luong Waterfall, located in Co Lung Commune, Ba Thuoc District, Thanh Hoa Province, is like a hidden gem in the middle of the wild mountains and forests, captivating visitors with its wild yet charming beauty.

From Hanoi, you can travel along Highway 6 through Mai Chau, Hoa Binh, then continue along Highway 15C to Co Luong, Dong Dien and Pu Luong.

If you depart from Thanh Hoa, from the center of Co Lung commune, you can continue trekking about 4km through primeval forests and ethnic villages to reach the foot of the waterfall. During the journey, you will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful winding terraced fields.

Hieu Waterfall is about 100m high, formed by Hieu stream flowing through Pu Luong limestone mountain range. According to local people, the stream flows all year round and never dries up, that is why you can come here at any time of the year, each season the mountains and forests here put on a new, enchanting coat.

As soon as you set foot here, visitors will surely be amazed by the image of water pouring down from above, creating white foam, splashing like snowflakes.

Surrounding Hieu waterfall are steep cliffs covered with moss, creating an extremely impressive scene. At the foot of the waterfall, there is a natural swimming pool, the water is only about 1 meter deep. Here, visitors can comfortably swim, cool off in the lake and admire the beauty of the majestic mountains and forests.

In particular, in the middle of the white water stream, there are 3 natural caves that go deep into the mountain. Of the 3 caves, the most beautiful is probably Love Cave, about 3m wide and 10m deep. You just need to cross the stream to enter the cave and admire the colorful, cool, sparkling stalactites.

If you choose to come here to experience, according to tourists, June every year is the best time to enjoy all the beauty of the waterfall. At this time, the water flow is at its highest, creating a brilliant landscape and also the time when the terraced fields turn a lush yellow.
