On November 19, the Steering Committee for the Military-Civilian Tet activities for the period 2021 - 2025 of Kien Giang province held a ceremony to launch activities to celebrate the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay Tet in Ban Thach commune, Giong Rieng district.
The event took place over 5 days (from November 19 to 24) with many meaningful activities such as building solidarity houses, providing medical examinations, medicine and gifts to policy families, poor households and cultural and artistic exchanges, sports and folk games.
Mr. Le Trung Ho, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Military-Civilian Tet activities for the period 2021 - 2025, said that the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay Tet is a unique cultural feature of the Khmer ethnic group.
This year, the provincial steering committee decided to choose Ban Thach commune (Giong Rieng district) to organize Tet celebration activities.

“In recent times, Kien Giang has carried out many practical and meaningful activities and accompanied the Khmer people to celebrate the traditional New Year joyfully. The locality has especially implemented the construction of civil works such as houses, bridges, etc., contributing to creating a new look for the homeland,” Mr. Ho emphasized.
On this occasion, the Steering Committee for the Military-Civilian Tet activities in the period of 2021 - 2025 of Kien Giang province presented a symbolic board of financial support for the construction of 58 solidarity houses to the People's Committee of Ban Thach commune. The total cost is 2.9 billion VND. In addition, the Provincial Association for Supporting Poor Patients awarded 10 scholarships to poor students, Khmer ethnic people who have overcome difficulties and excelled in their studies (each scholarship is worth 500,000 VND).
The locality also started construction of Ong Thien canal bridge worth 250 million VND in Ta Yem hamlet, with the desire to connect traffic for convenient travel for people.
