Southeast Asian and Japanese youth ship docks in Ho Chi Minh City after 5 years of absence

(Dan Tri) - On the afternoon of November 14, 168 delegates of leaders and youth from ASEAN countries and Japan on the Nippon Maru ship in the Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Ship program arrived in Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union held a ceremony to welcome the 48th Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Ship in 2024 at Hiep Phuoc Port, Nha Be District. Vietnamese youth delegates returned in radiant yellow ao dai. This year, Vietnam had 15 delegates participating in the 40-day voyage of the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP). Le Hoai Nam, a student at the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, shared: "I am very happy to be welcomed after a long time away from Vietnam. I have learned a lot about the culture and people of other countries." The Japanese youth delegation was delighted to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City. SSEAYP is a cooperative initiative between the governments of 10 ASEAN countries and Japan to enhance exchanges and friendship among youths of the countries. Thai youth delegation excited in the 48th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program. Brunei Youth Delegation. Over the past 48 years, SSEAYP has not only strengthened good relationships, but also helped youths from other countries improve the necessary skills for the youth of the new era, preparing them for international integration. The Nippon Maru ship is likened to a special school in the middle of the ocean, where delegates exchange knowledge and culture. The program began in 1974 and Vietnam joined in 1995. Lao Youth Delegation. SSEAYP is an important initiative to promote understanding and friendship among youth of different countries. Delegation of Philippine youth. The welcoming program is an opportunity to introduce the generation of Ho Chi Minh City youth "Patriotic - Solidarity - Aggressive - Creative - Integration". Vietnam is the second destination on the journey, after which the ship will go to Indonesia and return to Japan. Mr. Shunsuke Fujimori, Executive Director of the 48th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program - 2024, shared that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the program had been suspended for many consecutive years. He expressed his joy at being able to resume the ship program and being able to dock again after 5 years of absence. SSEAYP has returned to Vietnam and Nippon Maru has once again set sail for the waters of Southeast Asia. During their stay in Ho Chi Minh City, the delegates will participate in many activities such as the flower offering ceremony at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument at Nguyen Hue Walking Street, meeting and talking with city leaders, participating in exchange activities with Ho Chi Minh City youth union members, attending the ceremony to receive foster families and staying at local people's houses...
