On the morning of May 14, Ship 20 of Brigade 172, Naval Region 3, along with a working delegation of the Vietnam People's Navy led by Colonel Nguyen Quoc Quang, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 3, left Da Nang to participate in international multilateral activities in Malaysia and Indonesia.
The trip, at the invitation of the Malaysian and Indonesian Navies, aims to further consolidate and enhance the existing good friendship and cooperation between the Vietnam Army and Navy with the Armies and Navies of ASEAN countries in particular and countries outside the region in general.
In addition, the trip of Ship 20 and the working delegation aims to implement the guiding viewpoints of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on international integration and defense diplomacy; continue to improve the ability to coordinate and cooperate in responding to common challenges in maritime security.
During the 5,000 nautical mile journey, officers and soldiers on board combined long-distance sea training, improved command and coordination organization capacity, combat readiness, and proficiency in operating weapons and equipment in conditions of long-term operations at sea; organized patrols and reconnaissance to grasp the situation in sea areas along the route.
As planned, in Malaysia, Ship 20 and the delegation will participate in activities within the framework of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) such as displaying naval ships, exhibition introducing career opportunities in the Malaysian navy, reviewing ships, and conducting exercises at LIMA.
In Indonesia, Ship 20 and the delegation will participate in the 4th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK-4), an international naval parade, and the International Maritime Security Conference.
Ship 20 and the delegation will also participate in many cultural and sports exchange activities in Malaysia and Indonesia.
