According to FPT University, in 2024, the school will welcome the first batch of students with the orientation of specialized training in microchip design, conducting research for Vietnam's semiconductor microchip industry. The expected quota is 1,000. All admitted students will be considered for scholarships from 50% to 100% for at least the first 2 semesters of the major.

Some students will be considered for full scholarships. Successful candidates can study in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City or Can Tho.
Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT University, said: "Semiconductor is an opportunity to enhance Vietnam's national competitiveness. With the goal of preparing high-quality human resources for the global market, FPT University has built a special scholarship program specifically for this major."
FPT University has planned to cooperate with many universities in the US and Taiwan (China) to design programs, curricula and training standards. These are 2 of the 4 leading markets for chips and semiconductors globally.
Therefore, students majoring in this field are equipped with 2 foreign languages and experience a comprehensive and rich personal development program.
Students majoring in this field can participate in short-term or postgraduate training courses in leading countries and territories in semiconductor microchips in the world to develop their careers in teaching and scientific research.
FPT University also built a model to send semiconductor students abroad to work in this industry by combining available resources from FPT Semiconductor Joint Stock Company and FPT Corporation companies in more than 30 countries. From there, young people can learn, accumulate and soon have the capacity to contribute to the comprehensive development of the industry.
Dr. Le Truong Tung added: "19 Taiwanese businesses and universities came to FPT University to interview 60 students majoring in related fields to select advanced scholarships and work in the field of semiconductor chips abroad."
According to FPT University, graduating from the semiconductor design major, students can take on jobs in the semiconductor industry such as designing, simulating, and verifying analog-digital circuits.
Develop specification documents, consult on design process development; manage and supervise the implementation of wafer and chip manufacturing processes.
Chip testing, quality management of materials, components in packaging and testing; research and development of materials, component structures; development of boards and core software (firmware) to support the development of applications using chips.
