According to the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV), along with striving to fully complete production and business plan targets, preserve and develop state capital in enterprises, the Group also synchronously deploys and is determined to perform well environmental protection tasks, contributing to the sustainable development strategy of TKV and its member units.
Evaluating the implementation results in 2023, environmental protection work continues to be maintained to ensure the requirements set out in accordance with the provisions of law and the requirements of TKV. Effectively implement dust control work, thoroughly treat wastewater and other types of waste generated during production activities, and perform well in environmental sanitation work.
The process of dumping soil and rock waste dumps basically complies with approved plans and designs, and within the assigned land lease boundaries. The Group's advisory agencies and member units proactively and effectively implement environmental protection work in production and business activities.
By the end of 2023, the entire Group will have treated over 3,500 tons of hazardous waste, reaching 106% of the 2023 plan; Investing in and consolidating the dust suppression system at coal concentration areas; regularly maintaining water spraying to suppress dust, operating over 118 high-pressure misting equipment, 167 specialized road watering vehicles, dust suppression in the mine, conveyor belts, fixed misting systems...; strengthening dust control work during the dry season, especially focusing on waste dumps, roads near residential areas, coal warehouse areas, and ports.
Achieved over 100% of the plan for tree planting to improve and restore the environment in 2023 and equal to 114.63% compared to the same period in 2022. TKV planted an additional 235 hectares (Quang Ninh region is 220 hectares), accumulated by the end of 2023, planted over 2,000 hectares of trees (Quang Ninh region is over 1,800 hectares).
At the same time, maintain stable operation of 45 mine wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), ensure the quality of treated water according to regulations, treatment output reaches over 150 million m3 of wastewater, effectively manage and operate over 39 industrial mine wastewater treatment plants and 80 concentrated domestic mine wastewater treatment plants; complete investment in construction of project wastewater treatment plants under -150 Mao Khe.
TKV Group also implemented the plan and scheme to allocate capital to implement approved environmental protection works in 2023; implemented 57 environmental works, basically completed, meeting the requirements for production and natural disaster prevention in 2023.
In addition, TKV also implements comprehensive environmental protection plans at coal mines, warehouses, ports, factories, and waste dumps; closely coordinates with specialized departments in urging the implementation of environmental restoration and mine closure according to regulations when the Mining License expires.
In 2023, coordinate inspection, supervision, and urging the implementation of environmental work by topic, combining inspection with the management of the Group's general production activities.
The units also proactively conduct internal self-inspections. In addition, they coordinate well with specialized state management agencies on environmental protection (Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control - Ministry of Public Security, Department of Industrial Safety and Environment - Ministry of Industry and Trade, Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Environmental Police Departments of provinces) to strengthen inspections on environmental protection in the field of coal and mineral production and trading; effectively implement the Coordination Regulations to promptly prevent violations of environmental protection laws.
In 2024, TKV Group will continue to implement the set goals, tasks and solutions for environmental protection; ensure the completion of the workload and environmental indicators; maintain good and regular implementation of environmental protection and safety work. Strictly control sources of waste causing environmental pollution, strengthen the prevention of environmental incidents, respond to climate change and epidemics, and reuse plans for mine wastewater and waste rock.
Standardize the process of organizing, deploying and implementing digital transformation in environmental management of TKV; Promote the development of circular economy; Research and deploy the recycling of mine wastewater to serve people's lives in the period 2025-2030; Accelerate the implementation of "Greening the mining environment", build the criteria of "Factory in the Park"...
