Nvidia's leadership wants to establish a "stronghold" to attract talent around the world , contributing to promoting the semiconductor and artificial intelligence ecosystem in Vietnam.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the afternoon of December 10, Mr. Jensen Huang, Chairman and CEO of Nvidia Corporation (USA) - the world's largest chip manufacturing corporation (valued at nearly 1,200 billion USD) said that the "stronghold" will contribute to promoting startups, designing and developing supercomputers, and producing software of the future.
"This will contribute to Vietnam's digital future and Nvidia is very pleased to participate in the partnership with Vietnam," said Mr. Jensen Huang, affirming that the Vietnam-US relationship has a favorable foundation for cooperation in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
The Chairman and CEO of Nvidia Corporation highly appreciated the opportunities, strategies, and focused approaches of Vietnam in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence; and also valued Vietnamese human resources in this field. If Vietnam succeeds on the wave of semiconductors and artificial intelligence, it will succeed in the most important stages and fields of industry and technology.
"Vietnamese people are very good at math, have good software skills and are in a good position to develop semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Nvidia identified Vietnam as an important market and invested 250 million USD," he said.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said he highly valued Mr. Jensen Huang's visit, which would contribute to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the US. He said he would set up a working group to promote cooperation agreements between the two sides, headed by the Prime Minister.
The Government leader emphasized that in the newly established comprehensive strategic partnership, Vietnam and the US agreed to make science, technology and innovation an important new pillar. Therefore, the two countries need to focus resources and intelligence, giving priority to a number of key areas for Vietnam, especially the semiconductor industry - an area in which Vietnam and the US have signed a cooperation agreement.
According to the Prime Minister, Vietnam has many potentials and advantages suitable for human qualities in the semiconductor industry. Nationwide, there are 6,000 semiconductor industrial engineers working for domestic and foreign enterprises. Vietnam aims to train 50,000 high-quality engineers from now until 2030, with priority given to semiconductor design engineers.
On this basis, the Vietnamese Government leader asked Nvidia to define a strategic, long-term vision for cooperation, companionship, and support for Vietnam in building and implementing a national semiconductor strategy. He also hoped that Nvidia would support Vietnam in developing the semiconductor industry in all three stages of design, chip factory construction, packaging, and testing.

Nvidia, founded in 1993 as a manufacturer of graphics cards for computers, is now a pioneer in accelerated computing. The company has more than 27,000 employees and generated $27 billion in revenue in fiscal 2023.
Jensen Huang, co-founder of Nvidia, became a superstar in the semiconductor industry when his company's graphics chips became sought after. Born in Taipei in 1963, Huang has lived in Taiwan and Thailand. In 1993, he and two friends Chris Malachowsky and Curtis Priem founded Nvidia with an initial capital of $40,000.
In early 2022, the company announced the H100 - the world's most powerful GPU at the time - but analysts said the launch was poorly timed, as businesses were looking to tighten spending and lay off workers. However, by the end of last year, ChatGPT unexpectedly created a global fever, making Nvidia's AI chip sought after. Nvidia's market capitalization went from 400 billion in January to 1,000 billion USD at the end of May.
