Nasdaq Group - US stock exchange commits to support Vietnamese businesses

After the official welcoming ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing (China), and talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, at noon on June 26, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation took a high-speed train from Beijing to Tianjin (China) to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) conference.

Immediately after arriving in Tianjin, the Prime Minister attended and delivered a speech at the Vietnam-WEF National Strategy Dialogue with the theme “Promoting new growth drivers to build the country's future”.

Attending the dialogue with the Prime Minister were Professor Klaus Schwab, Chairman of WEF; Mr. Borge Brende, Executive Director of WEF, and about 50 leaders of global corporations that are members of WEF.

This is the only national dialogue activity held within the framework of the 14th Annual Meeting of WEF Pioneers, aiming to share Vietnam’s experience as a model of economic recovery and accelerating growth model transformation; at the same time, creating opportunities to discuss orientations, policies and investment and business environment in Vietnam.

At the dialogue, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared information on the socio-economic development situation, emphasizing that Vietnam is a highly open economy, greatly influenced by the impacts of the world economy. Despite the extremely difficult context, Vietnam has effectively responded to external risks and challenges, maintained macroeconomic stability, controlled inflation and ensured major balances; promoted growth, firmly consolidated national defense and security, and created a peaceful and stable environment for development.

Vietnam is continuing to strongly innovate its growth model, restructure the economy, promote innovation and digital transformation; promote energy conversion, develop a green economy and circular economy.

Sharing with WEF and businesses about Vietnam's advantages, the Prime Minister suggested that WEF and its members continue to cooperate and support in technology, finance, training of high-quality human resources, and modern management.

WEF leaders and business representatives highly appreciated Vietnam's economic recovery achievements and prospects. At the same time, they recognized Vietnam as one of the bright spots in the region's economic recovery, a successful model in disease prevention and control, playing a pioneering role in transforming the growth model and committing to energy transition.

Foreign enterprises consider Vietnam the most suitable choice

Many businesses are impressed by the fact that the Vietnamese Government always pays great attention and support to the business community, thanks to which there are many policies aimed at removing difficulties and creating better business conditions for businesses.

With the Government's drastic policies and measures to create an attractive investment environment for Vietnam, the business community believes that Vietnam is one of the most suitable choices, an investment destination and a place to seek long-term cooperation opportunities.

On the afternoon of June 26, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Robert H. McCooey, Jr., Vice President of Nasdaq Corporation (USA). The Prime Minister thanked Nasdaq for its support for Vietnamese enterprises. The Prime Minister also hoped that Nasdaq would exchange and share with Vietnam about the monetary policies of major countries, global financial market trends, information and experience sharing to help develop the domestic capital market.

The Vice President of Nasdaq Group expressed his impression of Vietnam's economic recovery and growth achievements; highly appreciated the Government's financial and monetary management policies; believed in the dynamic development and committed to supporting Vietnamese enterprises to reach the global level.

Nasdaq Group Vice President looks forward to welcoming the Prime Minister to visit the Nasdaq stock exchange as soon as possible.

Vietnam - WEF signed a memorandum of cooperation

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Professor Klaus Schwab, founder and Executive Chairman of WEF, witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Vietnam - WEF cooperation for the period 2023 - 2036.

The MOU is an important foundation to promote Vietnam - WEF cooperation in the new period, focusing on 6 key areas, including: innovation in the food and food sector; developing innovation and green transformation skills; industrial clusters towards net zero emissions; promoting actions on plastics, including the Global Plastics Partnership Action Programme (GPAP); financing for renewable energy transition; cooperation in digital transformation and promoting the establishment of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The signing of the MOU will help Vietnam access resources and experience as well as participate in WEF's global programs, thereby establishing a synchronous ecosystem to promote new growth drivers, attract investment, and enhance national competitiveness.
