Also attending were many photographers and photography critics from across the country. Representing Nghe An Newspaper at the celebration was comrade Tran Huu Nghia - Deputy Editor-in-Chief.
In 1978, Photography and Life Magazine published its first issue, a combined issue of July and August under the name “Photography Magazine” under Press Publishing License No. 03-VP9 issued by the Prime Minister's Office on January 2, 1978. To date, the Magazine has just turned 45 years old, with a wide readership nationwide, especially among photography enthusiasts.
The main purpose of the magazine is to guide composition, orient photographic aesthetics and is currently the only address in Vietnam to research in-depth issues of photography in theory and practice, and introduce the history of photography in the country and the world.
The magazine also provides information about creative works and photography theories in the country and abroad, gathers Vietnamese photography forces and provides knowledge for those who love and are familiar with the camera.
In early 2018, after half a year of difficulty and being suspended from publication due to lack of funding support from the State, Photography Magazine resumed publication, switched to operating under an autonomous mechanism and changed its name to Photography and Life Magazine under the "steering" of Journalist, Photographer Ho Sy Minh - former staff of Nghe An Newspaper.
With a new name and new direction, Photography and Life Magazine hopes that the art of photography will spread more widely, penetrate deeper into people's lives, and reflect more deeply the areas of social life and the country. From here, the Magazine has had a series of changes and many improvements.
With these achievements, Photography and Life Magazine was honored to receive many noble awards from the Party and State, including the Third Class Labor Medal, Second Class Labor Medal and many Certificates of Merit and excellent emulation flags from superior agencies.
Delivering a speech at the 45th Anniversary of the first issue of Photography and Life Magazine, journalist and photographer Ho Sy Minh - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, Editor-in-Chief of Photography and Life Magazine, Head of the Photography Theory and Criticism Department emphasized: “Inheriting that fine tradition, Photography and Life Magazine continues to unite, innovate, be creative, overcome difficulties, become a prestigious newspaper, attract more and more readers, contribute to building an advanced Vietnamese literature and art, imbued with national identity; build the personality of Vietnamese people to meet the increasingly high and diverse needs of truth, goodness, and beauty; effectively serve the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.
At the ceremony, comrades: Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Associate Professor, Doctor - Musician Do Hong Quan - President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; Photographer Tran Thi Thu Dong - Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists spoke to acknowledge the results, evaluate the activities and contributions of Photography and Life Magazine in the fields of literature, art and journalism in our country over the past 45 years; at the same time, discussed and emphasized a number of orientations and solutions for the Magazine to continue to develop, worthy of its special position in the photography community, as a companion of photographers, members, and readers who love photography; have more readers, are more widely distributed, have more practical effects on society, and contribute to building an advanced Vietnamese literature and art system imbued with national identity.
On this occasion, in recognition of the Magazine's contributions to the cause of literature, art, journalism in general and photography in particular, on the occasion of its 45th anniversary, Photography and Life Magazine was honored to receive the flag and Certificate of Merit from the Central Propaganda Department, Vietnam Journalists Association, Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, and Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.
