In recent years, the Farmers' Association at all levels in the province has innovated its content and methods of operation, focusing on the grassroots, supporting and accompanying farmers in economic development, creating motivation for competition, arousing the will to escape poverty sustainably, get rich and join hands to build the homeland. Thereby, contributing significantly to promoting agricultural development and building civilized rural areas.
Accounting for 78% of the province's population, Ninh Binh farmers are considered an abundant labor force in the locality. Therefore, how to arouse the potential, creativity and will to rise of farmers so that they can actively and proactively participate in emulation movements has always been the top concern of the Farmers' Association at all levels of Ninh Binh province for many years.
To be worthy of being a reliable support for farmers, the Provincial Farmers' Association has focused on directing all levels of the Association to regularly innovate its methods of operation and care for the material and spiritual life of its members. In particular, it focuses on innovating, improving the quality and effectiveness of the movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty". This is also considered one of the important solutions to create motivation, encourage and motivate farmer members to actively compete in labor and production.
Accordingly, in addition to propagating and mobilizing farmers to choose production and business methods suitable to the conditions of each household and each locality, the Farmers' Association at all levels focuses on supporting farmers to overcome difficulties in production and business, especially in borrowing capital; mobilizing, guiding and supporting farmers to participate in developing collective economic forms. Actively and proactively advising the Party Committee and the government to create favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms and policies for the Farmers' Association to participate in building and implementing programs and projects for socio-economic development in the locality.
Ms. Luong Thi Thinh, in Xuan Phuc village, Ninh Van commune (Hoa Lu) - Owner of Thinh Vuong fine art stone production facility shared: Previously, my family and the majority of local farmers mainly chose farming as their main occupation to make a living. But when the State reclaimed part of agricultural land to build an industrial cluster, many farmers were initially confused about choosing a profession. With the attention of local authorities and the propaganda of Farmers' Associations at all levels, my husband and I decided to build a fine art stone production model on our homeland.
With the will to rise up, Ms. Thinh is also one of the leading households in economic development and supports the commune's craft village planning policy. She is one of the first owners of a stone handicraft production facility to move from a residential area to the Ninh Van stone craft village planning area, motivating other families to boldly invest, contributing to maintaining and developing the craft village sustainably.
Ms. Thinh added: During the economic development process, I was fortunate to receive support from the Farmers' Association at all levels to borrow capital from the Farmers' Support Fund with a total capital of over 2 billion VND. Thereby, helping the facility have the conditions to invest in applying technical advances in production such as: Buying stone cutting machines, lathes, stone cutting machines, stone splitting machines, grinding machines... Currently, Thinh Vuong Fine Art Stone Facility creates jobs for 8 regular workers with an average income of 8-12 million VND/person/month and dozens of seasonal workers in the locality.
Not only enriching herself, Ms. Thinh also mobilized and established a Cooperative for the Production and Processing of Fine Art Stones with 35 members, who regularly meet, exchange experiences, and help each other in production and business. Recognizing her efforts, achievements, and contributions to the farmers' movement, Ms. Luong Thi Thinh was recently voted by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union as one of the 100 Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers in 2023.
In order to create an effect and spread the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably", the Association at all levels has focused on promoting and praising typical examples of good production and business. Thereby contributing to arousing the will of self-reliance, self-improvement, encouraging members and farmers to actively and effectively participate in the movement. Every year, more than 100,000 farming households have registered to strive to achieve the title of "Good Farmer Household in Production and Business" at all levels.
In the 5 years (2017-2022), the whole province had 29,744 households achieving the title of "Excellent Farmer and Business Household" at all levels. By the end of 2022, the whole province had 334 farming households with an income of over 1 billion VND/year (an increase of 291 households compared to the previous term), many farming households were commended and rewarded by the Farmers' Association and People's Committees at all levels.
Not only promoting and encouraging farmers to compete in production and business, but for many years, Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province have also actively encouraged members to promote the tradition of mutual love and support, "the strong help the weak", joining hands to help poor households and households in difficult circumstances so that "no one is left behind".
Over the past 5 years (2018-2023), the Association at all levels has built 317 sustainable poverty reduction models. Along with that, the Association at all levels mobilized members to help each other with nearly 27,000 working days, support seeds, seedlings, agricultural materials... with a total value of nearly 3 billion VND. At the same time, support farmers to access preferential capital sources... thereby helping 3,579 farming households escape poverty, contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the province by the end of 2022 to 2.36%.
The movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" was widely launched by Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province, becoming a highlight in the work of the Association and the movement of Ninh Binh farmers to implement the Resolution of the 6th Provincial Farmers' Association Congress, term 2018-2023.
Through the movement, the linkage between farming households has become increasingly close, creating conditions for restructuring and agricultural production towards commodities. The movement has contributed to the formation of many specialized production areas, increasingly meeting the production and living needs of members and farmers to form farm economic models, build models of crops and livestock with high economic efficiency, effectively implementing the new rural construction program.
Over the past 5 years, the Association at all levels has mobilized farmer members to establish 78 cooperatives, 133 professional associations, and 331 cooperative groups. These collective economic organizations operate in a variety of industries, with many typical models of organic production, high-tech application, ensuring food safety and hygiene, and environmental sanitation.
The movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably" has really attracted and spread widely, promoting innovation in methods of gathering farmers, improving the effectiveness of activities and quality of Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province. The role and position of the Association are increasingly affirmed, contributing to arousing the potential and creativity of farmers, truly being the core in the cause of industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
