(Dan Tri) - On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, farmers in Ia Hru commune, Chu Puh district, Gia Lai province sold thousands of pots of five-color flowers. Many gardeners "sold out" of five-color flowers before Tet.
Five-color flowers, a type of plant that often grows wild along roadsides and hillsides, have been transformed into colorful bonsai trees by farmers in Gia Lai province, attracting the attention of many people, especially during Tet.
Mr. Tran Minh Tuan, a farmer in Phu Quang village, Ia Hru commune, Chu Puh district, Gia Lai province, is famous for his bonsai grafting technique.

He has supplied thousands of five-color flower plants to major markets in the North and Ho Chi Minh City.
With nearly 2,000 pots of five-color flowers prepared for the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, Mr. Tuan sold more than 1,000 pots to Northern traders a month before Tet. The price of each pot ranges from 200,000 to 500,000 VND.
Due to the impact of storms and rains, the five-color flowers in the North were severely damaged, causing demand to increase dramatically. The price of five-color flowers this year increased to 400,000 VND/pot and bonsai pots with beautiful shapes can cost up to several million VND.
Mr. Tuan’s family has sold more than 1,000 pots of five-color flowers and expects to sell the remaining 100 pots during Tet. He expects to earn about 300 million VND from selling five-color flowers and is planning to expand the scale of cultivation.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, also from Phu Quang village, owns more than 300 pots of colorful flowers. Mr. Quang focuses on taking care of plants with unique shapes and grafting rare flower varieties from Thailand.
On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang sold nearly 300 pots, earning more than 60 million VND. Flower prices increased but many gardeners in Ia Hru commune had no products to sell.
The movement of playing with five-color flowers is spreading in many districts and cities of Gia Lai province.

Mr. Che Van Dung, a bonsai collector in Pleiku city, has owned about 50 pots of five-color flowers after more than 2 years of care.
According to Mr. Dung, the five-color plant has strong vitality, and planting and caring for it is quite simple. Growers only need to ensure that the plant has enough light, water and nutrients for the flowers to bloom brilliantly.
