"The farewell ceremony for Yevgeny Viktorovich will be held in a closed format. Those who want to say goodbye can visit the Porokhovskoye cemetery," Reuters quoted a notice posted by Mr. Prigozhin's media team on the Telegram messaging app along with a photo of Mr. Prigozhin.
TASS quoted a well-informed source as saying that according to the family's wishes, only relatives and friends were invited to Mr. Prigozhin's funeral.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin had no information about Prigozhin's funeral and Russian President Vladimir Putin had "no obligation" to attend, according to TASS news agency.
"The president does not have to attend. Regarding the funeral, we do not have any information. His family and friends have the right to decide and we cannot say anything without them," Mr. Peskov stressed.
Previously, on August 27, the Russian Investigative Committee confirmed that Mr. Prigozhin was among the 10 people killed in the Embraer Legacy 600 plane crash in Russia's Tver province on the evening of August 23.
Two other top Wagner figures, four of Prigozhin's bodyguards and three crew members were also killed in the Embraer Legacy 600 crash, according to Reuters.
