Strengthening traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam is determined to consolidate and strengthen relations with Bulgaria through the channels of the Party, National Assembly, Government, people's diplomacy, and connections between businesses and localities of the two countries.

On the morning of September 26 (local time), within the framework of an official visit to Bulgaria, at the Bulgarian Parliament House, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received Chairwoman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Chairwoman of the BSP Parliamentary Group for Bulgaria, Ms. Korneliya Ninova and members of the BSP Parliamentary Group.

Warmly welcoming the National Assembly Chairman and the delegation on an official visit to Bulgaria, BSP Chairman Korneliya Ninova expressed her admiration for Vietnam's achievements in recent times, especially in the context of the world having unpredictable changes and developments, heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, natural disasters, climate change... but Vietnam's economic growth rate still reached over 8% in 2022.

Thanking Ms. Korneliya Ninova and members of the BSP Parliamentary Group for their contributions to the successful official visit to Bulgaria by the Vietnamese National Assembly Delegation, the National Assembly Chairwoman emphasized that the talks with the National Assembly Chairwoman and the meetings with the President and Prime Minister of Bulgaria had achieved results beyond the expectations of both sides.

The National Assembly Chairman thanked the Bulgarian National Assembly for ratifying the Vietnam-European Union Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) right before the visit with an absolute majority of votes; emphasizing that this is an important step for the Agreement to soon complete the ratification process and come into effect.

Referring to the new Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two countries' parliaments that was just signed during the visit, the National Assembly Chairman said that these results were achieved thanks to the very positive contributions of Ms. Korneliya Ninova and members of the BSP Parliamentary Group.

The National Assembly Chairman stated that Vietnam always treasures the long-standing friendship with Bulgaria - one of the first 10 countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Over the past 73 years, Bulgaria has given Vietnam sincere support and assistance in the struggle for national liberation and reunification.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam is determined to consolidate and strengthen relations between the two countries through all channels: Party, National Assembly, Government, people-to-people diplomacy, and connections between businesses and localities between the two countries.

The Communist Party of Vietnam wishes and is ready to cooperate closely with Bulgarian political parties, contributing to promoting cooperation between the two countries in all fields, consolidating political trust, and promoting relations on state channels to become more in-depth, substantive, and effective.

Sharing with the BSP Chairman and parliamentarians about Vietnam's achievements, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized that since 1986, Vietnam has steadfastly carried out the Renovation process under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, firmly following the path to socialism for the goal of "rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization".

After more than 35 years of Renovation, Vietnam has summarized theoretical and practical issues and profound lessons on the path of renovation and building socialism, as shown in the book "Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the BSP; wished that the two sides would further strengthen the Party's external relations channel, exchange experiences in Party building, the Party's leadership role towards the State in the context of volatile and rapidly changing world politics as at present; and share experiences in educating the young generations of the two countries to continue the tradition and continue the extremely good friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman respectfully conveyed the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and invited Ms. Korneliya Ninova and members of the BSP Parliamentary Group to visit Vietnam soon.

BSP Party Chairwoman Korneliya Ninova happily accepted the invitation and said that, with the desire to further consolidate and strengthen the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries, the Intergovernmental Committee of the two countries has agreed to meet next October, this is a great opportunity to consolidate the relationship between the two countries in all fields; at the same time, she believes that the EVIPA Agreement, after being completed and ratified and put into effect, will increase the competitiveness of goods and attract investment from both sides.

Assessing that the two sides have not yet fully exploited the potential of the cooperative relationship, Ms. Korneliya Ninova suggested that in the future, the two countries need to continue to consolidate and further enhance traditional and potential cooperation areas such as: culture, education, sports, environment, nature protection; artificial intelligence...

Expressing pride in the results of bilateral cooperation over the past 73 years, Ms. Korneliya Ninova emphasized that the BSP Party as well as the BSP Parliamentary Group for Bulgaria always wish to develop the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. With its strategic position as a bridge between Asia and Europe, Bulgaria is ready to realize the possibilities of connecting the two countries' relations as well as connecting the region.

Also on the morning of September 26, at the Bulgarian Parliament House, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received the Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Group of the Gerb-UDF party, Ms. Desislava Atanasova and members.

Group Chairwoman Desislava Atanasova congratulated National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Bulgarian leaders on their successful talks and meetings, agreeing on many major orientations and specific areas in the cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, especially signing 5 cooperation documents in many fields, thereby raising the level of cooperation between the National Assembly and the two countries.

Ms. Desislava Atanasova believes that after the visit, the relationship between the two countries will be promoted and strengthened in many fields.

Expressing his delight at meeting members of the Gerb-UDF Parliamentary Group at the Bulgarian Parliament House, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue thanked the parliamentarians for their coordination in preparing activities within the framework of the visit of the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly; at the same time, he said that his talks with the National Assembly Chairman and meetings with the President and Prime Minister of Bulgaria were very successful, achieving good results, and the two sides agreed on many measures to promote and strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

The National Assembly Chairman also said that the Policy and Law Forum to promote bilateral cooperation held within the framework of the visit attracted the participation of a large number of businesses from both sides, the largest number ever.

The National Assembly Chairman also visited the Sofia University of National and International Economics and delivered a policy speech to a large number of Bulgarian and international diplomats, scholars, professors, students, and researchers on the current world and regional situation and the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria.

Thanking the Bulgarian National Assembly for ratifying the EVIPA Agreement with an absolute majority of votes right before the visit, the National Assembly Chairman said that this has great practical significance, demonstrating support for Vietnam, and also showing that political parties in Bulgaria share the same desire to promote good relations between the two countries.

In the context of a rapidly changing global situation, the consolidation of supply chains has become a trend. The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the Bulgarian National Assembly's ratification of EVIPA is an important step forward for the agreement to be implemented soon, bringing benefits to both sides. The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the Bulgarian National Assembly will continue to lobby for the remaining EU member states' parliaments to soon ratify the Agreement.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the Communist Party of Vietnam attaches great importance to relations with political parties around the world and currently has relations with 247 parties in 111 countries, including 63 ruling parties, 28 parties participating in the ruling coalition and participating in politics.

Vietnam synchronously implements all three pillars: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy - parliamentary diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy. The visit to Bulgaria by the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly this time also aims to promote cooperation with Bulgarian political parties, thereby strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

On the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the two National Assemblies that has just been signed, the Vietnamese National Assembly will do its utmost to promote bilateral relations. The National Assembly Chairwoman hopes that Ms. Desislava Atanasova and the Gerb-UDF members will continue to support the strengthening of relations between the two legislative bodies in particular and the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria in general.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairwoman hopes that Ms. Desislava Atanasova and the group of MPs from the Gerb-UDF party will lobby the European Parliament to remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood, because this is not only affecting the livelihoods of Vietnamese fishermen but also millions of European consumers.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the world is undergoing rapid changes with unpredictable developments, however, the trend of peace and cooperation is still the main trend. On the basis of the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation that has developed well over the past 70 years, the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria needs to be further nurtured and strengthened by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue respectfully invited Ms. Desislava Atanasova and parliamentarians who are members of the Gerb-UDF Party to visit Vietnam soon.

Chairwoman of the Gerb-UDF Parliamentary Group Desislava Atanasova thanked National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and affirmed that the Gerb-UDF Parliamentary Group will continue to make proposals to support and protect Vietnam's interests.

In addition, Ms. Desislava Atanasova also hopes that Vietnam will continue to create conditions for Bulgarian products to penetrate the market; believing that the good cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop in the future. The official visit to Bulgaria by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed that both Vietnam and Bulgaria attach importance to developing cooperation in the fields of politics, trade and investment.
