NDO - On the afternoon of September 22, in New York, General Secretary and President To Lam attended the seminar "Cooperation in developing Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductor Technology between Vietnam and the United States". The seminar was organized by the National Innovation Center (NIC) in collaboration with FPT Corporation and Rosen Partner Investment Group (USA) under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The event was attended by leading technology corporations and organizations in the world in the field of semiconductors and AI in the United States such as AMD, Google, Marvell, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), the Global Semiconductor Association (Semi)... In his opening speech, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said that over the past time, the Vietnam-US relationship has continuously developed, becoming more comprehensive and deeper in all fields, especially economic-investment-trade cooperation. Vietnam has issued a Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence from 2021 and on September 21, 2024, issued the Program for Human Resource Development in the Semiconductor Industry and the National Strategy for the Development of the Semiconductor Industry. Accordingly, in the coming time, Vietnam will promote the training of high-quality human resources to participate in the artificial intelligence and semiconductor industry, with the goal of training 50,000 engineers from now to 2030. The potential for cooperation between Vietnamese and US partners in high-tech industries such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence is enormous. This cooperation will open up many opportunities for businesses on both sides to promote and exploit each other's advantages and will have many meanings in the new period, especially after Vietnam and the US upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership from September 2023. Within the framework of the discussion, representatives of leading US and world technology organizations and corporations shared international experiences in developing the semiconductor and AI fields, as well as pointed out the great potential and opportunities for cooperation with Vietnam to develop these fields. Experts highly appreciate Vietnam's semiconductor and AI technology development strategy, believing that with the outlined directions, Vietnam will become an attractive destination for investors in this field and will achieve many successes in the future. Currently, a number of large Vietnamese technology enterprises and corporations are actively participating in the semiconductor and AI fields, of which FPT Corporation is a typical example. The Group has invested heavily in AI and semiconductor research and development activities over the years; has cooperated with leading "brains" in the global AI field such as Landing AI, Mila, Nvidia and plans to invest 200 million USD in establishing an artificial intelligence factory (AI Factory). In the semiconductor field, FPT focuses on the areas of design, testing and training of high-quality human resources to meet the growing needs of the market. In 2022, the company established FPT Semiconductor, launching the first Make in Vietnam semiconductor chip. Responding to the Government's direction, FPT committed to training 10,000 semiconductor workers by 2030, contributing to realizing the country's goal of 50,000 semiconductor engineers. FPT University has also opened a Semiconductor Microchip training program, enrolling nearly 1,000 students. Speaking at the seminar,General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to international cooperation and understands that to succeed and go far in high-tech fields, especially the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence, we can only go together and build a solid value chain. American businesses and organizations coming to Vietnam to jointly develop innovative and sustainable solutions will always be welcomed. The General Secretary and President said that Vietnam has identified three strategic breakthroughs for the country's socio-economic development by 2030: institutions, infrastructure and human resource development associated with economic restructuring and growth model innovation; promoting development based on science and technology, innovation and Vietnamese people's cultural values. Developing the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries is an objective requirement, a strategic choice, a priority in science and technology development; and will lead to the development of other supporting industries. The General Secretary and President emphasized that Vietnam is at an important juncture for the transition towards a digital economy, a green economy, a circular economy and is prioritizing the strong development of science and technology, innovation to create breakthroughs in productivity, quality and increase the competitiveness of the economy. In that context, Vietnam encourages and prioritizes selective investment attraction, targeting high-tech projects, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, research and development of renewable energy, green hydrogen, construction of synchronous infrastructure..., these are also the areas where US investors have great potential and strengths. Reviewing the positive results that the Vietnam-US cooperation relationship has brought about since the normalization of relations in 1995, the General Secretary and President affirmed that the potential for cooperation between Vietnamese and US partners in high-tech industries such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence is extremely large, with many meanings in the new period, especially after Vietnam-US upgraded relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership with two breakthrough cooperation pillars: innovation and semiconductor industry. Believing that cooperation in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence will open up many opportunities for businesses on both sides to promote and exploit each side's advantages.Nhandan.vn
