A traffic surveillance camera system and a flood monitoring and warning system have just been deployed by Tam Ky, located in the Smart City Operations Center.

There are a total of 60 smart traffic camera points, installed at intersections on main roads. Each point has 5 high-resolution cameras to record activities 24/7.

This is one of the projects aiming to build a smart city in Tam Ky, with a total investment of more than 231 billion VND.

Importantly, Tam Ky City has provided specialized databases to serve the direction and management work... as well as focusing on many solutions for the problem of cashless payment, cashless streets or "Market 4.0"...

Quang Nam's planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, aims to make Quang Nam a province with modern digital infrastructure and synchronous, complete digital data, 4G/5G network covering 100% of localities, creating a foundation for the development of digital government, digital economy, and digital society.

Right at Tam Ky market, traders have gradually become accustomed to cashless payments. For example, 2 years ago, scanning QR codes when paying for goods was strange, but now it has appeared frequently, even becoming a habit of each seller and buyer.

Ms. Nguyen Lien - 60 years old, a trader at Tam Ky market, shared that since March 2022, the government has started implementing cashless payments at the market. In the early days, few people were interested in transferring money, most people used cash.

“After 2 years, until now, the number of money transfers when making purchases is increasing day by day. Customers use less cash when making purchases. This is the biggest change I have seen when applying digital transformation to life,” said Ms. Lien.

Mr. Hoang Xuan Ha (residing in An Son ward, Tam Ky city) acknowledged that paying for goods without cash is becoming a trend for everyone.

“Three years ago, when I went to the market to buy goods and transfer money, it was quite difficult. But now everything is much easier. Just turn on the app, scan the QR code, enter the amount and press send. Everything is done. Some shop owners have a machine that prints a QR code equivalent to the amount to be paid, so customers do not need to enter that amount,” Mr. Ha shared.

Traveling for Tam Ky residents is becoming safer as cameras “cover every corner”. Almost every corner has security cameras. Tam Ky residents say that from now on, security and order are guaranteed.

Most typically, at urban intersections, there are four-way cameras. This tool helps authorities easily monitor traffic and social safety.

Data Platform Development

A new feature in the identification of Tam Ky as a “digital transformation city” is the QR codes attached to street name signs. This is a new thing on the smart streets of this urban area.

Tam Ky named this project “digitizing street names”. Residents and tourists can easily find out the name of each street right on their phones through QR codes.

Mr. Le Khanh (An Son ward) felt interested after scanning the QR code on Le Loi street. Location information, a summary of the historical hero's life and career were displayed on the phone screen, integrating both Vietnamese and English.

According to Mr. Khanh, this project of digitizing street names helps people and tourists access information easily, concisely, and without being cumbersome. In particular, young people will also learn more about the nation's history through these introductions.

The leader of Tam Ky City People's Committee said that the locality is digitizing street names to build a database, especially digitizing in the field of archiving and historical education in a modern direction.

Visitors only need a mobile phone, scan the QR code, all information about the street name such as date of birth, date of death, summary of life, career or event meaning, street name identification will be displayed on the screen. This helps people as well as tourists easily find information about the name of each street.

Tam Ky is also the first locality in the country to deploy a digital library. Mr. Vo Van Thien - Deputy Director of the Center for Culture, Sports and Communications of Tam Ky City informed that the city library is currently equipped with 10 pre-installed tablets for users to experience with more than 10,000 books integrated into each device.

Users just need to register an account, then log in to the member application to read. Many fields are selected such as children's books, novels, history...

According to the leader of Tam Ky City People's Committee, to build a smart city, it is necessary to develop a data platform. This step will help apply to the planning and management of smart complex urban areas. From there, the government can easily improve its capacity to handle administrative procedures and serve people and businesses.

In 2024, Tam Ky will deploy the construction of the Operation Center and install pilot service equipment. Organize workshops to check the operation as well as promote the pilot service...
