This afternoon (May 16), the leader of the Road and Railway Traffic Police Department ( Hai Phong City Police) informed that the Hai An District Police Department has issued a decision to temporarily detain driver Mai Van Tam for the act of "Resisting a person on official duty", according to Article 330 of the 2015 Penal Code.
Accordingly, at 7:35 p.m. on May 8, the Working Group of Traffic Police Team No. 2 (Road and Railway Traffic Police Department) carried out a patrol and control plan on Bui Vien Street, near the Bui Vien - Dong Xa intersection in Thanh To Ward, Hai An District.
Here, the working group signaled to stop the vehicle for administrative inspection of the container truck with license plate: 15C-162.34.
However, the container truck driver, Mai Van Tam, born in 1986, registered in Nga An commune, Nga Son district (Thanh Hoa), did not obey the traffic police's orders and continued driving.
The task force assigned one officer on a motorbike to block the front of the container truck. In addition, two other officers continuously signaled and asked the driver to stop the vehicle, get out of the car and cooperate with the traffic police.
Driver Tam then stepped on the gas and drove towards a traffic police officer on duty until the container truck pushed the officer into another car and then stopped. Fortunately, the traffic police officer escaped.
The task force controlled Tam, made a record of the incident, and handed over the subject and vehicle to the Investigation Police Agency - Hai An District Police for handling.
