On the evening of August 29, Tan Binh District Police (HCMC) announced that they were detaining Truong Van Ha (born in 1998, residing in Phu Nhuan District) and Le Trong Nghia (born in 1995, residing in Binh Tan) to investigate and handle according to regulations on property robbery.
Nguyen Van Phuc (born 1988, residing in Binh Tan) was detained for receiving property obtained through criminal acts.
Previously, the police force received a report from a victim of a robbery at Cong Hoa overpass, Ward 2, Tan Binh District. After a period of investigation, detectives arrested Nghia and Ha, confiscated motorbikes, phones, handbags and pepper spray canisters.

At the police station, Ha and Nghia confessed that they needed money to spend, so they decided to rob each other. Ha and Nghia rode their motorbikes around the streets of Phu Nhuan and Tan Binh districts to look for “prey”. When they saw the victim was careless while carrying a handbag and using a phone, the two quickly approached to commit the robbery.
Ha and Nghia carried pepper spray canisters to fight back if they were chased. The stolen property was mainly phones, which Ha and Nghia sold and divided between themselves.
Working with the police, Phuc confessed that he knew the phones Ha sold at his store were property obtained by others through crime, but still proceeded to purchase them.
Ha and Nghia admitted to committing three robberies together, including two on August 26. Tan Binh District Police are temporarily detaining the people and related evidence to continue investigating and handling them according to the law.
