On the morning of May 6, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that on National Highway 6 (section through Yen Chau district, Son La province), a serious traffic accident occurred, causing 8 casualties.
Specifically, at around 10:20 p.m. on May 5, driver NMH (born in 1979, residing in Hoa Binh province) was driving a tractor trailer with license plate 26C-037.XX on National Highway 6, heading from Son La to Hanoi. At Km 219+63, the tractor trailer suddenly crashed into the roadside grocery store of Mr. PMC's house.

At the time of the accident, there were many people sitting and drinking water at the grocery store. The accident left 1 person dead on the spot, 7 people were seriously injured and had to be taken to the emergency room.
Immediately after the accident, Road Traffic Police Team No. 2 (Traffic Police Department, Son La Provincial Police) dispatched officers and soldiers to the scene. The functional force tested the alcohol concentration of the driver of NMH and discovered a violation of alcohol concentration.
The initial cause was determined to be that the driver of the NMH vehicle was not driving on the correct side of the road, causing a traffic accident.
Currently, Traffic Police Team No. 2 is coordinating with Yen Chau District Police to investigate and clarify the incident.
