“Over the past few days, we have witnessed a dangerous escalation of massacres carried out by the Israeli army against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem,” the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement.
The ministry said the Israeli army continued to commit more crimes in Jenin and the West Bank. They also continued to kill and destroy Palestinian homes in the Gaza Strip.
The Syrian diplomatic agency asserted that the support Israel receives from the United States and other Western countries shows that Israel's statements about not expanding military operations and ending offensive military policies are just empty words.
The pro-Israel policies of the West and the US are not only aimed at the Palestinian people but are also policies implemented anywhere in the world that do not meet Western interests.
"Syria strongly condemns Western policies, attacks and crimes committed with US support and demands their immediate end," the ministry said in a statement.
* On the same day, the Israeli army announced that its first soldier had died in a raid in the West Bank that began on August 28.
The statement said that soldier Elkana Navon, 20 years old, was killed and another soldier was seriously injured.
Since August 30, Israel has focused its military operations on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp, which are bases for Palestinian armed groups fighting against Israel.
* On September 1, Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko accused his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu of continuing the conflict in Gaza for personal political purposes and suggested isolating Israel to end "the atrocities sponsored by some Western countries".
“We have a prime minister who is willing to step over thousands of dead bodies to stay in office and not face justice,” Sonko said at a gathering of hundreds of Palestinian supporters at the Grand Mosque in the capital Dakar.
A West African country with a nearly 95% Muslim population, supporting Palestinians internationally and close to the Arab world, Senegal has chaired the United Nations Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People since the 1970s.
