Supachok 'sadly' receives the award for the most beautiful goal of ASEAN Cup 2024

The vote for "Best goal of the second leg final" of the ASEAN Cup 2024 has come to an end, with Supachok Sarachat's unfair-play goal winning outright.

The title vote was conducted by the ASEAN Cup 2024 homepage, opened 3 days ago. Supachok immediately took an absolute lead with more than 80% of the votes.

Final result: Supachok's long-range shot into the Vietnamese net, raising the score to 2-1 for Thailand, won with an overwhelming 85.41% (46,482 votes).

The runner-up was Nguyen Hai Long, with 12.12% of the votes, followed by Tuan Hai (2.2%) and Ben Davis (0.25%).

However, Supachok personally as well as Thai fans cannot be happy with this "unexpected title".

The 26-year-old Thai midfielder scored an extremely unfair goal, when he took advantage of a long-range shot from a throw-in that goalkeeper Dinh Trieu had previously cleared.

After the match, Supachok spoke out about this controversial goal. Accordingly, he said that he did not know that the throw-in came from Dinh Trieu clearing the ball so that medical staff could enter the field to take care of an injured Vietnamese player.

However, Supachok's excuse did not receive the approval of many fans. Many Thai fans and media also had to admit that this was an unfair goal.

Southeast Asian fans "poured fuel on the fire" when voting for Supachok's goal in the polls.

Thai newspaper Thairath headlined: "Heartbroken by the voting results for the best goal" to comment on this story. It can be said that this reluctant title made Supachok's unfair goal spread even more widely.

On the other hand, the voting for "The best goal of the ASEAN Cup" (the whole tournament) is still open. Supachok also leads the poll with 89.47% of the votes. The next person is Nguyen Xuan Son with 10.18% of the votes.
