General Secretary and President of Laos congratulates Vietnam on winning the ASEAN Cup 2024

According to information from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting on January 10, General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people always attach importance to and give the highest priority to the Laos-Vietnam relationship, considering it a priceless asset of strategic importance to the revolutionary cause of the two countries.

Expressing his gratitude and warm regards to key Vietnamese leaders, Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith warmly congratulated and shared joy with the Vietnamese people when the Vietnamese football team won the ASEAN Cup 2024 championship recently.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his emotion and joy at meeting again with Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith - a close comrade and friend of the leaders and people of Vietnam.

The Head of the Vietnamese Government congratulated Laos on its achievements in 2024, and shared with the Lao General Secretary and President the outstanding results of the exchange with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and the 47th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, and the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation and Investment Conference 2025.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the two sides have reviewed bilateral cooperation in all areas, resolved many outstanding issues, and outlined directions for bilateral cooperation in 2025.

Welcoming the results of the 47th session of the Intergovernmental Committee, General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith highly appreciated the resolute direction of the Vietnamese Politburo, especially that of General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, in implementing high-level cooperation agreements and plans, with the emphasis on resolving difficulties and obstacles of many projects.

The Lao leader also suggested that the two sides further strengthen the connection between the Lao and Vietnamese economies, especially in finance, infrastructure, transportation, energy, telecommunications, tourism, etc.

At the end of the meeting, the two leaders sent each other best wishes on the occasion of the upcoming New Year 2025 and Vietnamese Lunar New Year.
