According to experts, the appeal of the Vietnam Military History Museum shows that people are very interested in the historical value and cultural traditions of national defense in the glorious pages of the nation's history.
The appeal of the Vietnam Military History Museum stems primarily from its innovative exhibition spaces. As a key cultural landmark, the museum boasts a vast space spanning tens of thousands of square meters, divided into numerous exhibition areas representing different historical periods. Historical artifacts such as the MiG-21 aircraft (serial number 5121), the T-54 tank (serial number 843, a national treasure), and heavy artillery displayed outdoors serve as both evidence of military strength and symbols of the nation's indomitable fighting spirit, attracting a large number of visitors. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Military History Museum, stated: The museum currently houses over 150,000 artifacts, including four national treasures. Each artifact is linked to a unique historical story, helping visitors gain a deeper understanding of the glorious victories and sacrifices of the Vietnamese people. The museum space is vast but efficiently arranged: exhibition spaces are organized according to historical milestones and periods of Vietnam's history, with prominent events and exhibits presented visually and vividly, accompanied by clear annotations. This has created a special appeal for history enthusiasts, especially those who want to better understand Vietnam's glorious victories in the resistance wars. In addition, innovations in applying modern technology to exhibition activities have also made a significant difference, helping the Vietnam Military History Museum attract a large number of visitors. The video/3D mapping system depicting major battles and famous fights has made historical events more vivid, relatable, and accessible. Mr. Le Duc Hoa, a visitor from Nghe An province, shared: “I am very impressed with the space and the way the artifacts are displayed at the Vietnam Military History Museum. The arrangement and display of artifacts, and especially the use of technology to recreate battles, gave me the opportunity to stand close to the legendary weapons that participated in Vietnam's historical battles. I felt like I was directly participating in each battle.” Another factor worth mentioning is that the free admission from November 1st to the end of December has helped the museum attract a large number of domestic visitors; at the same time, it has created opportunities for many international tourists to visit and learn about Vietnamese history. With visitor numbers reaching around 25,000-30,000 at times during its opening days, the Vietnam Military History Museum has achieved a level of appeal comparable to the world's most visited museums, such as the Louvre in Paris (France), the National Museum of Natural History in the United States, and the National Museum of China…
Many precious artifacts from the nation's history of building and defending the country are on display at the museum.
In an interview with a reporter from the Vietnam Communist Party's online newspaper, Dr. Do Ngoc Van, Director of the Institute for Social Issues Research, stated: "In recent days, the Vietnam Military History Museum has attracted a large number of visitors, which is a positive sign. Tens of thousands of visitors come to the museum each day, reflecting the public's need to understand the historical traditions and cultural values of the military embodied in the exhibits, which are linked to the thousand-year history of Vietnam's struggle for national liberation and defense." In fact, the Vietnam Military History Museum is the largest, most modern, and newest military museum compared to other museums in Hanoi today. The application of technologies such as video/3D mapping of major and dramatic battles has transformed history from a dry narrative into a vibrant experience, providing visitors with engaging experiences and a clearer understanding of history.
The Vietnam Military History Museum is the largest, most modern, and newest military-themed museum compared to other museums in Hanoi today.
However, the overwhelming number of visitors, especially on weekends, has made management and security at the Vietnam Military History Museum challenging. After its opening, the museum became the focus of public attention due to unsightly incidents such as visitors touching, handling, and even climbing on exhibits. Despite prohibition signs, some parents allowed their children to climb on exhibits and happily take photos… Some visitors even climbed onto the museum's roof to take pictures and videos. In response to these incidents, the museum has installed additional ropes around the exhibits to ensure distance between visitors and the artifacts; and has increased patrols and security personnel on all access points to upper floors and construction areas. Nearly a month after its opening, the Vietnam Military History Museum continues to attract considerable visitor interest. The daily visitor numbers reaching tens of thousands are a positive sign, indicating that the museum system in general, and the Vietnam Military History Museum in particular, are effectively fulfilling their role in educating about historical traditions, contributing to preserving and spreading the cultural values of national defense in the glorious history of the Vietnamese people. / Source: https://dangcongsan.vn/tu-tuong-van-hoa/suc-hut-lon-tu-su-doi-moi-683884.html
