On May 9, Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) said it had made efforts to treat four workers who suffered severe burns while repairing underground cables.
Specifically, at around 8:30 a.m. on May 8, the hospital's emergency department received four patients who were employees of Cho Lon Electricity Company who suffered severe burns while repairing electricity at an underground cable line.
The incident took place on Duong Bach Mai Street (District 8). While four workers were repairing, an electrical short circuit occurred, causing an explosion and burns.
The most serious case was male patient LHT (28 years old, residing in District 8) who was admitted to the emergency room with second and third degree burns all over his body, including 80% burns to his head, chest, abdomen, limbs, and eyes.
The patient was treated with pain relief, IV fluids, tetanus prophylaxis, blood tests, and an eye exam to remove foreign objects...
On May 9, Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep - head of the burn and plastic surgery department, Cho Ray Hospital - said the patient had 38% second-degree burns on his entire body, second- and third-degree burns on both eyes, and foreign bodies in the conjunctiva of both eyes.
The patient is currently stable, but the prognosis is still difficult.
The remaining three patients include male patient PAH (46 years old, residing in District 8) who was hospitalized with second-degree burns, 2% burns on the head and face; patient NVL (37 years old, residing in Binh Chanh) with second-degree burns on his right ear, 3% burns on both hands; and patient LQT (37 years old, residing in Tay Ninh province) with first- and second-degree burns on his left hand, and 3% burns on his left ankle.
At the emergency department of Cho Ray Hospital, all three patients were treated with pain relief, tetanus prevention, transferred to the burn department and discharged.
