The truth about durian 30,000 VND/fruit

The price of durian is low because of the decrease in quality, many sellers are lowering the price to sell their goods. Recently, social networks have spread the image of a super cheap durian business location, only 30,000 VND/fruit in Ho Chi Minh City. However, according to Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of August 20, this address has temporarily stopped operating.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Linh – who claims to be the owner of this store, said that the cheap durian is the old durian variety (large-seeded durian) and the quantity is limited. Currently, this durian is at the end of the season and is in short supply, so her family has temporarily stopped selling.

Durian is being sold by many people on online markets such as Facebook, Zalo... The selling price is quite diverse, with about 35,000-40,000 VND/kg of seedless durian; the flat-seeded varieties such as Ri6 durian cost 60,000-70,000 VND/kg, Thai durian costs 70,000-90,000 VND/kg; the Musang King durian variety is more delicious so the price is 100,000-140,000 VND/kg. In total, each kilogram of chestnut squash costs about 100,000 VND, 4-10 times more expensive than Vietnamese pumpkin. Some retailers sell each squash individually for about 40,000 VND/squash.

This is a pumpkin variety originating from Jeju Island, introduced to China and grown on a large scale. This pumpkin is a Chinese product, not an imported product from Korea. (See details)
