According to VGC , Sony Interactive Entertainment has had to say goodbye to the boss of PlayStation Mobile after accompanying this department for 2 years.
PlayStation Mobile boss Nicola Sebastiani joined Sony in 2021. He was previously well-known for leading Apple's business management team before becoming head of content for Apple Arcade, and spent eight years at the iPhone maker before coming to Sony.
SIE's PlayStation Mobile Chief Resigns After 2 Years
While at Sony, Sebastiani was responsible for building PlayStation's mobile team and was a key player in Sony's acquisition of Savage Game Studios. However, less than a year after that acquisition was announced, he has now left the company. It's unclear why the executive decided to leave or whether he's joining another company.
Over the past two years, SIE has been quietly building a team of experienced mobile talent, hiring from companies like Apple, Kabam, Meta, Tencent, Super Evil Megacorp, Samsung, Niantic, Zynga, Riot, and more.
Speaking at a business briefing last year, SIE president Jim Ryan said the company expected half of its annual game releases to be on PC and mobile by 2025.
Commenting on the acquisition of Savage Game Studios, PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst said he was keen to emphasise the role of mobile gaming within PlayStation, with the sector as a "complement" to its core console business.
