Son Heung-min scored one goal and provided two assists, helping Tottenham win 4-0 away at fourth-placed Aston Villa in the 28th round of the Premier League.
The match at Villa Park had a significant impact on the race for the final Champions League spot. Therefore, the teams in fourth and fifth place played tightly in the first half and didn't have a single shot on target. The turning point came at the beginning of the second half when James Maddison opened the scoring, before Son shone with a goal and two assists to help Tottenham secure a resounding victory. The three points helped Ange Postecoglu's side close the gap with Aston Villa to just two points, while still having a game in hand.

Aston Villa players lost their composure after conceding two consecutive goals to a direct rival. The home side were further reduced to ten men in the 65th minute when captain John McGinn was sent off for a rough tackle on defender Destiny Udogie.
Despite being down to ten men, Aston Villa pushed their attack forward, creating numerous opportunities for Tottenham on the counter-attack. Kulusevski missed several chances but made his mark in the first minute of added time, with a well-placed back pass for Son to volley directly into the net.

After the Aston Villa captain was sent off, the Tottenham captain shone brightly. In the fourth minute of added time, Son made his third contribution to the visitors' goals. The South Korean international dribbled at speed down the left wing and passed to Timo Werner, who finished with a one-touch shot to seal a 4-0 victory.
Aston Villa lost but still retained fourth place. However, the team with the biggest advantage in the race for the Top 4 right now is Tottenham, as they have a game in hand and are only two points behind Aston Villa. Postecoglu's team also re-established a six-point lead over sixth-placed Manchester United.
