At the time of inspection, Vissan Binh Thuan Livestock Enterprise provided complete relevant documents, investment procedures, environmental impact assessment reports... The farm is raising 1,200 sows and 10,000 gilts according to the approved design in the environmental impact assessment report.
According to the enterprise's report, the amount of wastewater generated at the farm is about 37m3 /day and night. Water sources generated from livestock and daily activities are collected and sent to the centralized wastewater treatment system in the farm. The treated wastewater is used to clean the barns and water plants (dry season).
As for the odor, the factory said it mainly comes from the fan area that exhausts air from the barn to the outside, the manure storage area, and the carcass disposal pit.
The time when the bad smell usually occurs is between 5-7am, 8-10am, 6-8pm every day. According to the factory, this is the time when pigs are fed, workers clean the barns, and waste is discharged into the biogas tank...
The factory has taken many measures to reduce the foul smell here, ensure bio-safety and prevent epidemics. Specifically, it regularly sprays microorganisms to control the arising odor, covers the manure storage area, the body disposal pit, exhaust fans, etc.
According to local government representatives, there is still an occasional foul smell coming from the farm, but it has decreased compared to before.
Similarly, representatives of households living near the farm said that when there is wind, a foul smell is emitted. Although the foul smell has reduced compared to before, households want to move the farm to a new location soon to prioritize industrial development.
Regarding the roadmap for relocating the farm to a new location, a representative of the Department of Planning and Investment of Binh Thuan province suggested that the enterprise coordinate with the People's Committee of Duc Linh district to carefully review and soon agree on a plan for the province to decide.
According to a representative of the Department of Planning and Investment of Binh Thuan province, the current location of the farm is no longer suitable for livestock regulations and the roadmap that the enterprise has proposed to relocate to a new location is too long.
