Department of Information and Communications deploys tasks for 2024

Thoroughly implementing the motto of proactive adaptation and drastic action in accordance with the Government's general management spirit of "Solidarity, discipline, flexibility, innovation, timeliness and efficiency" and implementing the theme of 2023 as "Year of Digital Data, creating and exploiting data to create new values", the information and communications industry continues to strengthen discipline, order and effectiveness of state management with a sense of responsibility and the highest efforts, achieving positive and comprehensive results in all fields.

Telecommunications infrastructure and digital infrastructure in 2023 have undergone strong changes, gradually fulfilling their role as important economic and technical infrastructure of digital government, digital economy, and digital society.

Up to now, 100% of legal documents, more than 90% of directive and management documents of the province have been updated on the province's electronic information portal; the rate of agricultural production households participating in e-commerce platforms has reached 55% (ranked 4th/19 provinces and cities in the region), 3,757 products have been posted on Postmart e-commerce platforms (ranked 6th/19 provinces and cities in the region)...

Digital transformation continues to be implemented vigorously, in a comprehensive and all-people direction, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the province. The media and press continue to contribute to conveying and honestly reflecting the flow of life and socio-economic development of the locality, creating consensus, spreading positive energy, and creating trust in society.

With the goal of enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of management and operation, promoting the combined strength, mobilizing all resources, and effectively exploiting the potential advantages of the information and communications industry in the trend of the 4.0 industrial revolution, in 2024, the Department of Information and Communications will continue to guide and direct enterprises in the industry to develop network infrastructure and production and business in accordance with planning and legal regulations; promote the development of e-commerce, logistics, diversify the types of public telecommunications service provision on the basis of broadband services, high-speed internet connection, and increase the popularization of smartphones in public areas.

Strengthening network security, information security and information and communication infrastructure to ensure smooth communication in all situations. At the same time, promoting foreign information and international cooperation on information and communication with countries in the region.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam emphasized: 2024 is the year in which the province will hold many meaningful celebrations and festivals, notably the 70th anniversary of Vinh Linh tradition, the 35th anniversary of the re-establishment of Quang Tri province and especially the first year of organizing the 2024 Festival for Peace.

Therefore, from now on, the information and communication sector must focus on doing a good job of information and propaganda with rich information content and diverse forms to contribute to introducing and strongly spreading the historical and traditional values of the land and people of Quang Tri.

At the same time, closely follow the direction of the Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation, Ministry of Information and Communications to advise the Provincial Steering Committee for Digital Transformation to issue the Digital Transformation Plan for 2024. Promote proactiveness, creativity, mobilize all resources, participation of the entire political system, people and business community to develop the digital economy to become an important economic growth driver.

Strengthen guidance for press agencies to innovate and strongly apply artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the internet of things (IoT) to produce fast, timely, and accurate news. In particular, the press, publishing, and media sectors need to consider cyberspace as the main front, both transforming the digital press and ensuring a healthy cyberspace, including strengthening the handling of false information and toxic information on the internet.

On this occasion, authorized by the Prime Minister, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam awarded the Government's Emulation Flag to the Department of Information and Communications for its excellent and comprehensive completion of its tasks, leading the patriotic emulation movement in 2022 of Quang Tri province. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Director of the Department of Information and Communications awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals.
