(Dan Tri) - The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City proposed exempting tuition fees for all students at all levels from the 2025-2026 school year.
The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City is seeking opinions in developing a draft resolution on specific policies to support tuition fees for preschool children, public and non-public high school students, and high school continuing education students in Ho Chi Minh City from the 2025-2026 school year.
According to the draft, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City proposed to support tuition fees for preschool children under 5 years old and high school students in Ho Chi Minh City from the 2025-2026 school year, with the goal that all preschool children and high school students at all levels in the city have the opportunity to participate in learning and do not have to pay tuition fees.

Specifically, in the draft, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City builds two specific policies to support tuition fees, including:
Policy 1: Special policy to support tuition fees for preschool children, public and non-public high school students and high school continuing education students in Ho Chi Minh City from the 2025-2026 school year.
Policy 2: Special policy to support tuition fees for public and non-public high school students and continuing education high school students in Ho Chi Minh City from the 2025-2026 school year.
The support level is the current tuition fee applicable to preschool children with the ranges of 100,000-120,000 and 200,000 VND/student/month depending on the group.
Tuition support for high school and vocational high school students is 100,000-120,000/month/student depending on the group.
Group 1: Students studying at schools in Thu Duc City and districts: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan.
Group 2: Students studying at schools in the districts: Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio.
If the proposal is approved, from the 2025-2026 school year, public elementary school students, 5-year-old preschoolers, and middle school students will be exempted from tuition fees. Thus, only preschool children under 5 years old and high school students will have to pay tuition fees according to regulations.
Explaining the above issue, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that exempting tuition fees for students at all levels will be a very meaningful and practical gift for all students in the city, creating a mark to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
This also clearly demonstrates the city's investment in education, being a pioneer in tuition exemption and support policies, ensuring education quality and learning opportunities for people.
Thereby, leaving a strong impression and creating a ripple effect to attract human resources from all over the country to reside and work in the city, creating resources for economic and social development.
