Vietnamese students honored for excellence at international conference

Nguyen Minh Khang, a first-year student majoring in marketing management at Greenwich University Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City campus, gave an excellent presentation at the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Engineering and Advanced Technology, organized by SEGi University, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The report is titled "Analysis of mobile payment user intention in Vietnam: Integrating technology acceptance model and task-technology fit model with Agile software development practices" by a group of authors from Greenwich University Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City campus, including Dr. Pham Van Kien, Vo Minh Hieu, Huynh Ai Van and 2 students Nguyen Minh Khang and Nguyen Do Thanh Phat. This study explores the factors influencing the adoption of mobile payment systems and the role of Agile software development practices, addressing the research gap in understanding how these factors interact. Research Findings   This report provides important information for policy makers to support the design, implementation and improvement of mobile payment technology to promote widespread acceptance and sustainable use. Accompanying the group for 5 months, Minh Khang and a fellow researcher were initially assigned to present the report. However, due to the health of his companion, Minh Khang had to represent the presentation. Upon receiving information that he would represent the group to present the report before going to Malaysia to attend the conference, Minh Khang shared: "I hastily prepared for the presentation in the most meticulous way within two weeks. Every day, after class, I spend 30 minutes practicing speaking in front of the mirror." When assigned the task, Minh Khang also encountered many difficulties. "I specialize in marketing, so elements in the field of technology and engineering are a challenge. Therefore, I have to spend a lot of time researching and discussing with teachers to be able to present in the best way," Minh Khang said.

To gain the trust of teachers, Minh Khang has proven his ability through previous international competitions. Minh Khang won many international awards such as: 12 gold medals and 22 silver medals at the academic competition The World Scholar's Cup held in the Global round in Australia and the final round at Yale University (USA). Top 2 of the TEENEAGLE Global English Olympiad held at Cambridge University (UK) in 2023. Becoming an excellent reporter at the 2024 Icseat International Conference in Malaysia this time is not the first achievement that Minh Khang has achieved during his university years. "Before that , right from my first year of university, I achieved IELTS 8.5 and was an official speaker at the TEDx Greenwich University Danang international English presentation stage in 2024," Minh Khang said. "Through the process of writing the report, I learned a lot of useful things. Especially when doing research, I learned how to find data, had the opportunity to learn more and gain experience in a new field," Minh Khang confided. Minh Khang added: "This is the first time I have attended an international conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was truly a great experience. From the location to the organization style of the conference, everything was very professional. I learned a lot from the research papers and sharing from other reporters." Admitting that he is a highly disciplined person, not wanting emotions to control his actions, so once he has chosen something, Minh Khang will do his best and not give up halfway. That is also the principle that this student chooses as a guideline for his life.

While still a high school student, Minh Khang received undergraduate scholarships from three American universities with a total value of more than 3 billion VND, but this student decided to choose an international learning environment at Greenwich Vietnam, with a 70% GRE Talent scholarship. Talking about the reason for not choosing to study abroad, Minh Khang shared: "I feel that studying in Vietnam is more suitable for me. Because the major I chose is marketing and I intend to build a career in my homeland, studying in a domestic environment will help me understand more about the market and people of Vietnam." Dr. Huynh Ai Van, Head of the Department of Business Administration, Greenwich University Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City campus), commented: "Khang has experience participating in English speaking competitions, achieving many impressive achievements at home and abroad. On the other hand, the lecturers also want to create conditions for students to have this international experience, so the group decided to assign Khang the task of representing to present a research paper at the conference." Dr. Huynh Ai Van added: "With careful preparation, Khang presented his report at the conference in Malaysia confidently and fluently, conveying all the knowledge of the research topic."
