(Dan Tri) - On the morning of September 15, hundreds of supercars from around the world participated in Gumball 3000 and were displayed along Le Loi Avenue (HCMC), along with raising charity funds for the people of the North who suffered damage due to storms and floods.
Gumball 3000: The world's most famous supercar journey, born in 1999, gathers hundreds of supercars to participate each year, moving through many countries for many days. This year, Vietnam is honored to be chosen as the starting point for the 25th anniversary journey of Gumball 3000. The Organizing Committee shared with Dan Tri reporters that this year's journey has cut out outdoor music and entertainment activities, instead of charity fundraising activities to support Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of storms and floods. The charity fundraising campaign lasts from September 14 to September 23, for members of Gumball 3000 and interested people around the world. The amount raised will be transferred to the District 1 Fatherland Front. The day before, more than 120 supercars from 40 countries appeared and lined up on Le Loi Boulevard, attracting a large crowd to admire. Thousands of car enthusiasts were present early on Le Loi Boulevard to see with their own eyes the world's most expensive and rare supercars. Many young people could not hide their excitement when they saw these super rare cars in person. This is a rare opportunity for domestic car enthusiasts to see these unique supercars with their own eyes. Mr. Sang Tran and Mr. Tri Nguyen, members of Team 65, donated 10,000 USD upon returning home to attend the event to support the people of the North. The two drivers stand next to the Mercedes Maybach S-class with the only Vietnamese license plate participating in the Gumball 3000 journey. Manchester United football legend Patrice Evra was also present at the fan interaction event.
The Koenigsegg Regera is one of the most unique supercars at the event, with a price tag of over $2 million (equivalent to VND50 billion). The million-dollar 'Honey' version of the Regera supercar is owned by tycoon Dan Kang, a famous car enthusiast from the US. The car was specially produced with a body mixed with crushed diamonds and carbon fiber. A British owner's Ferrari Roma appeared on Le Loi Street with extremely eye-catching and youthful colors and patterns. The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, a modified version with spiked wheels owned by an American player, has a unique and innovative design. The true value of this car has not been revealed and there is currently no similar model in the world. The owners of the participating cars are prominent and influential names from more than 40 countries such as music stars, famous artists, royal family members, sports stars... The drivers excitedly said that driving supercars on the streets of Vietnam is an interesting and new experience. The race will depart from Le Loi Boulevard (HCMC), pass through major cities in Southeast Asia such as Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Bangkok (Thailand), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and end on September 22 in Singapore with a distance of nearly 5,000 km in 6 days.
