Sunreef Yachts recently launched their second generation Sunreef 80 Eco. Said to be a luxurious, eco-friendly vessel, the superyacht’s living space and the latest green technology have attracted many people to learn more.
Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg has tried out one of these yachts and given his first impressions of the new luxury toy.
The base price for this electric yacht is $9.5 million and will increase depending on additional features requested by the owner.
Yachts can use different forms of energy simultaneously (solar, wind and current) to power the ship.
When fully charged, the Sunreef 80 Eco electric yacht can travel for about 10 hours at a time at a speed of 8-10 knots.
The Sunreef 80 Eco electric yacht is made from aluminum and advanced composite materials. The design of the electric yacht maximizes space for solar energy. The designers have improved the boat's operating efficiency by using an energy-efficient air conditioning system and a smart energy recovery system.
In addition, the ship also has a rainwater collection system, water saving traps, water generators and extremely efficient heat recovery boilers. The solar panels are curved and fitted to the hull, cabin roof and even the mast. The total area of solar panels on the electric yacht is up to more than 160m2, which can generate up to 50kWp of clean solar energy.
The ship has room for ten staterooms and seven crew members. Once inside, you’ll be wowed by the 5,500 square feet of living space that can be customized to include a spa, library, or gym. The master cabin has an outdoor deck area, while the lower deck features an outdoor pool, bar, and dining area.
The yacht is also equipped with wave energy absorbers and wind generators to help recharge batteries and power the onboard equipment and water toys (all of which are electric).
In addition, the ship also has a diesel generator as a backup for unforeseen situations or for long trips.
In particular, in addition to limiting the risk of environmental pollution due to not using fossil fuels, another interesting point, from an ecological perspective, is that the train does not cause noise pollution. When the engine is running on batteries, the train is almost completely silent.
The version of the ship that Nico Rosberg experienced was equipped with a piano that can play itself and a pair of TechnoGym treadmills on board. The treadmills cost about $4,000 each.
Sunreef Yachts says it has signed contracts with environmentally-minded yacht dealers from around the world.
Sunreef Yachts has received strong interest from partners in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia, however demand in North America is particularly high.
This clearly reflects the extremely strong demand from consumers, especially the super-rich, for owning luxury, environmentally friendly electric-powered yachts in the near future.
