SeABank and BRG Group planted 68,000 trees to cover nearly 20 hectares of forest in Lao Cai
Continuing the series of activities accompanying localities affected by storm No. 3, Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank, HOSE: SSB) and BRG Group joined hands with Nhan Dan Newspaper to plant 68,000 trees, worth 1 billion VND, to green nearly 20 hectares of forest area and restore livelihoods for people in Lao Cai province. Storm No. 3 has swept through and caused a lot of damage to property as well as infrastructure in the northern provinces/cities. In particular, Lao Cai is one of the localities that suffered heavy damage to infrastructure, houses, crops, forestry... due to flash floods, landslides, and flooding after the storm's circulation.
With the desire to join hands to overcome the consequences of the storm, support forest planting and restoration, and restore livelihoods for affected households, SeABank and BRG Group cooperated with Nhan Dan Newspaper to donate and plant 68,000 cinnamon trees for people in Bac Ha and Bao Yen districts (Lao Cai), including Lang Nu village in Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district - which has just suffered serious losses in terms of human lives and property due to flash floods. The total value of the planted trees is 1 billion VND and will be guided by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the local Forest Protection Department to plant and care for the trees, ensuring the development of nearly 20 hectares of forest. It is known that cinnamon is the main forestry tree in the locality, suitable for soil conditions and bringing high economic efficiency, while also playing a role in protecting the ecological environment and biodiversity. In addition, forests act as a shield to help retain water and block the flow, thereby preventing floods, erosion, landslides and contributing to reducing the severity and damage caused by natural disasters.
This is one of SeABank's activities to support localities affected by storm No. 3, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love of the Vietnamese people. Previously, the Bank donated 2 billion VND for natural disaster relief through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; donated 1 billion VND to support storm recovery for employees and people in affected provinces such as Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, etc. Pursuing the core value of "For the community", afforestation is one of the main activities that SeABank focuses on implementing, aiming to protect the environment and ecosystem, and develop sustainable forestry economy. From 2019 to present, SeABank has donated more than 350,000 trees and special-use forest trees to localities including: Lao Cai, Ha Tinh, Dak Lak, Thanh Hoa, Long An.
