On September 7, super typhoon No. 3 (Yagi) made landfall in Quang Ninh province, causing property damage to people and businesses, including the power grid system, leading to long-term power outages in some areas. However, when paying the electricity bill for September, many households still had their bills increased higher than in August. To provide more information on this issue, the Provincial Media Center reporter had an interview with Mr. Nguyen Van Quy, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh Electricity Company (photo).

- Sir, why were there many days of power outages due to storms in early September, but the electricity bills of some customers are still higher than in previous months?

+ After super typhoon Yagi landed in Quang Ninh, causing property damage to people and businesses, including the power grid system, Quang Ninh Electricity Company focused on repairing the power grid, quickly restoring power to customers and performing normal electricity services such as: Recording meter readings, issuing electricity bills, etc.

First of all, Quang Ninh Electricity Company informs about the process of calculating the electricity consumption of customers in the September 2024 billing period according to the following principle: For customers' meters with remote measurement connected to the data transmission system from the meter to the data collection center, the index on the system will be used to create monthly electricity bills for customers. For meters damaged or broken due to storms, the Company will replace them to ensure transparency in electricity measurement, and calculate the collection according to State regulations.

Regarding the question of many customers about the high electricity bill in September compared to August, Quang Ninh Electricity Company would like to give some reasons: That is, the electrical system including transformer stations, electrical equipment, and wiring system behind the customer's meter is damaged by trees and objects colliding during storms, leading to open joints, leakage, short circuits, causing waste of electricity for the household using electricity. Therefore, Quang Ninh Electricity Company recommends that customers check the entire wiring system behind the meter to promptly detect damage, ensure electrical safety and avoid unnecessary power leakage, leading to high electricity bills.

In addition, from mid-August 2024, due to the pre-storm weather effects of storm No. 3 (Yagi), which led to unusually long and continuous heat waves with average temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, at times reaching as high as 40 degrees Celsius, the demand for electricity will increase. On the other hand, the demand for electrical equipment and water pumps to clean up after the storm will also increase. This is also likely to lead to a sudden increase in electricity bills.

- In the face of the situation of high electricity bills possibly due to the metering system and wires behind the meter, what solutions will the Company have to overcome this, sir?

+ In order to proactively review customers' electricity supply and usage, Electricity units will increase the inspection of meter readings for customers whose electricity output has increased dramatically compared to the previous month and coordinate with customers to determine the cause and remedial measures.

In addition, Quang Ninh Electricity Company also recommends that customers use the Customer Care application on smart mobile phones to regularly monitor daily and monthly electricity consumption and use the electricity estimation tool on the EVNNPC CSKH App to know the electricity consumption of families and businesses, promptly detect and adjust the use of electricity to save electricity effectively.

With the "EVNNPC CSKH" application, all customers can monitor the index on the electricity meter; at the same time know the daily and monthly electricity consumption of the family and early detect abnormalities in the process of electricity use.

To download and use the application, customers just need to search for the keyword "EVNNPC CSKH" on the App Store (for iOS operating system) and Google Play (for Android operating system) on their mobile devices to directly monitor and look up information or can download it at the link: https://cskh.npc.com.vn/.

After successfully logging in, customers select the feature "Look up daily electricity consumption". In this function, customers can monitor the index on the electricity meter; at the same time, know the daily and monthly electricity consumption of the family and promptly detect abnormalities in the process of using electricity. Or customers use the registered phone number to receive information from the Electricity industry by composing a message with the syntax "CM Send 8079 to get the login password. The login name is the electricity customer code, customers will be able to look up daily electricity consumption.
