Continue to review and complete the Adjustment of Power Planning VIII

The conclusion announcement clearly stated that the preparation of the Adjustment of the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII) must comply with the viewpoints, objectives, and planning principles stated in Decision No. 1710/QD-TTg dated December 31, 2024 of the Prime Minister on approving the Task of preparing the Adjustment of Power Plan VIII, ensuring 4 requirements: (i) Highest feasibility; (ii) Ensuring energy security; (iii) Balancing regions and balancing energy types; (iv) Ensuring economic growth of over 8% in 2025 and striving to reach double digits in the 2026-2030 period and people's living needs.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to continue reviewing and completing the Adjustment of Power Plan VIII, in which it fully absorbs the instructions of the Government Standing Committee in Notice No. 93/TB-VPCP dated March 10, 2025, the instructions of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son.

Absolutely do not allow power shortages in any situation; immediately implement feasible projects and have backup plans for projects that are behind schedule. Ensure balance between localities; exploit potential, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages of localities. Projects proposed by localities and enterprises need to be carefully reviewed and appropriately incorporated into the overall planning, ensuring the highest national interests and feasibility.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade needs to find solutions to handle problems with LNG power projects; review projects, continue to supplement base power sources to ensure power supply security, serve economic development, and people's daily needs.

In the Implementation Plan for Adjusting Power Plan VIII, it is necessary to add specific progress milestones for projects to monitor, urge, and determine responsibilities during implementation.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinates with the Government Office to complete the dossier on adjusting the 8th Power Plan and report to the Prime Minister.
