There will be an electric car parade at a major tourism event in Can Tho.

"The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will mobilize businesses with electric vehicles to participate in the parade with about 20 vehicles," said Mr. Vo Thanh Giup, Director of the Trade and Tourism Promotion Center of Phong Dien district, Can Tho city.

As planned, at around 5:30 a.m. on July 6, 2024, the organizing committee will complete the vehicle arrangements and hold the departure ceremony at 6:00 a.m. The parade is expected to last from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

The convoy will depart from Luu Huu Phuoc Park, Ninh Kieu District, then parade through several main streets in the city center and end at Phong Dien District Square (about 20km route).

Tourism businesses with electric cars will have their cars participate in the parade.

The bus will take delegates to the opening ceremony of the 11th Phong Dien - Can Tho Ecotourism Festival in 2024 - Responding to Vietnam Tourism Day (July 9) taking place at 8:00 a.m. on July 6, 2024 at Phong Dien District Square. After that, the delegates will visit the booths and return to the starting point.

The 11th Phong Dien - Can Tho Ecotourism Festival will take place from July 5-9 with many exciting activities. The closing ceremony is scheduled to take place at 3:00 p.m. on July 9.

This is a highlight event of Can Tho city organized annually by Phong Dien District People's Committee to introduce and promote specialty fruits, delicious dishes... of Can Tho city, Phong Dien district to domestic and foreign tourists.

The event will feature many activities such as: electric car parade; booths promoting tourism in the city and districts; OCOP booths of provinces and cities; "Phong Dien Eco-tourism" art photo exhibition; Artistic fruit display contest; cuisine, folk cakes; composite hull racing; folk games...

In previous years, this event usually took place in September to celebrate World Tourism Day on September 27.

However, in 2024, the leaders of the City People's Committee agreed with the proposal to swap the time of organizing the Phong Dien - Can Tho Eco-Tourism Festival with the Cai Rang Floating Market Cultural Tourism Festival - Can Tho city.

Phong Dien Eco-Tourism Festival - Can Tho will take place in July - in response to Vietnam Tourism Day (July 9), while Cai Rang Floating Market Cultural Tourism Festival - Can Tho city will be postponed to September - in response to World Tourism Day (September 27).

Phong Dien district currently has 48 agricultural tourism gardens, tourism businesses and associated tourist attractions, most concentrated in My Khanh commune.

Of these, three locations have been recognized by the Mekong Delta Tourism Association as typical tourist destinations, including: My Khanh Tourist Village, Ong De Tourist Village, and Lung Cot Cau Tourist Area.

And four spots recognized by the Can Tho City Tourism Association as typical tourist spots of the city include: Vam Xang fruit garden; Giao Duong fruit garden; Chin Hong fruit garden; Cantho Eco Resort.
