On January 7, news from Cua Tung Border Guard Station, Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command, the unit is coordinating to protect and carry out procedures to report to competent authorities to handle a large cage of unknown origin drifting ashore.

This cage was discovered at Mui Treo beach, Kim Thach commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province at around 9:45 a.m. the same day.
Authorities initially inspected the cage, which was made of metal (suspected to be iron), square in shape, with sides about 26m long.

Earlier, at around 4:30 a.m. on January 7, an unmanned ship also drifted ashore in Trieu Lang commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province. The ship was about 15 meters long, 6 meters wide, and 6 meters high.
There was no one on board, only a few foreign printed items. The starboard side of the ship was punctured, and water was flooding into the ship's holds.
Authorities have protected the ship that drifted ashore and completed procedures to report to competent authorities for handling.
