These days, in the vast pineapple fields in Ha Trung, Thach Thanh districts, and Bim Son town (Thanh Hoa), farmers are busy harvesting pineapples. Despite the hot weather, farmers are still enthusiastically going to the fields to pick pineapples to sell to traders and fruit processing factories.
In the pineapple fields, there are many freelance workers who come here to earn a living. Their job is to pick pineapples and carry them onto cars. Although the work is hard, in return, men can earn 500-700,000 VND per day (they pick on the hills, farther away), women earn about 300,000 VND. This year, pineapples are priced well, selling at the garden for about 8,000 VND/kg. With 1 hectare of pineapple, farmers can earn about 200 million VND.
According to people's assessment, this year the pineapple trees have high productivity, large and beautiful fruits, each main-season pineapple weighs from 0.8 to 1.4 kg. Pineapple has a good harvest and good prices, so pineapple farmers are very excited this year, because after deducting all expenses, each hectare of pineapple can earn about 200 million VND.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Hoa province, in the 2024 pineapple crop, the whole province will plant about 3,200 hectares, of which 1,300 hectares belong to forestry farms and associated enterprises, the rest belong to households.
Thanks to growing pineapple trees with high productivity and stable output, for many years, thousands of households in Thanh Hoa have had a comfortable life and stable income.

Dragon fruit season, price drops sharply |
The price of dragon fruit has remained quite high since after Tet until then. However, for about a month now, dragon fruit has entered a favorable season, with abundant supply leading to a decrease in price.
According to a dragon fruit farmer in Quon Long commune, Cho Gao district, dragon fruit is currently purchased by traders at a price of 9,000 - 10,000 VND/kg. As scheduled, every year around this month, dragon fruit prices drop.
The leader of Hung Thinh Phat Clean Agriculture Cooperative (Quon Long Commune) said that currently, red-fleshed dragon fruit in the garden is being purchased by traders at a price of about 10,000 VND/kg. Because it is a favorable season, the supply of dragon fruit is abundant. At this price, farmers make little profit. In particular, white-fleshed dragon fruit is currently priced higher than red-fleshed, at about 17,000 VND/kg. The reason is that the white-fleshed dragon fruit crop is out of season, leading to limited supply.
According to the People's Committee of Cho Gao District, the district currently has about 6,600 hectares of dragon fruit. Of which, the area currently bearing fruit is 5,545 hectares, with a harvest output of 180,000 tons/year. Although the efficiency brought to dragon fruit farmers is high, it is still not stable and sustainable.
Prices are still unstable and depend mainly on traders. There are not many stable and sustainable links between farmers and businesses and cooperatives.

Thanks to growing soursop, farmers in (Vinh Kien hamlet, Vinh Quoi commune, Nga Nam town) escaped poverty and became quite rich. Their parents gave them 2,000 m2 of mixed garden land for production. Realizing that growing soursop was effective, they boldly renovated the mixed garden and planted 300 soursop trees grafted with custard apple trees. Currently, the family grows nearly 600 soursop trees on an area of 5,000 m2, harvesting 15-20 tons of fruit/year, after deducting expenses, the profit is nearly 300 million VND/year.
