The matter will be addressed after Recep Tayyip Erdogan's victory in the Turkish presidential election.
Mr. Sezer commented: "The relationship between Türkiye and Russia in the gas sector is very important. It is clear that after the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline, Türkiye is the only way to supply gas from Russia.
So, it can be said that both sides will take important steps towards creating a gas hub in Türkiye and bringing Russian gas to Europe."
The former Turkish trade representative to Russia added that after Erdogan's victory, a new era has begun in relations between Ankara and Moscow and mutual interaction between the two countries will increase.
Besides, Russia's support regarding Türkiye's recent economic difficulties was very helpful for Mr. Erdogan in his election campaign.
At the Russian Energy Week in October 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin floated the idea of establishing a hub in Türkiye to transport Russian gas to Europe, in the context of the Nord Stream pipeline being shut down.
