In less than a week of release, "Mai" - Tran Thanh's latest film project has continued to break its own record compared to last year's "Nha Ba Nu".
According to data from Box Office Vietnam, Tran Thanh's movie Mai has earned 200 billion VND after 5 days of release. On the 5th day of Tet (February 14), the movie became the Vietnamese movie with the highest daily revenue in the history of Vietnamese cinema with 40 billion VND. The movie has now surpassed all competitors to completely dominate the screenings.
Previously, Mrs. Nu's House also took more than a week and Godfather needed 9 days to achieve the above achievement.
"Mai" is Tran Thanh's third film project.
Up to now, only Meet again sister Bau is the only Vietnamese film that is still in the Tet film race with Tran Thanh's Mai. Although it was expected to be a big hit when it was directed by Nhat Trung and featured stars Dieu Nhi, Anh Tu, Le Giang..., up to now, the film has only earned over 40 billion VND.
In addition, the fact that two Vietnamese films had to quickly postpone their release dates, Tra and Sang Den, was also a factor that gave Mai an advantage in sales. The sudden withdrawal of the two films from theaters also showed that the producers were worried about having to face a strong opponent like Tran Thanh.
However, many audiences also believe that if they stay in theaters, both Le Hoang and Hoang Tuan Cuong's film projects will fail miserably in terms of revenue and content. Because Sang Den is considered to be picky about viewers, and Tra by Le Hoang is criticized as a disaster from the script to the character's acting and outdated filmmaking style.
That is one of the factors that makes Tran Thanh's Mai overwhelming in terms of screenings, revenue and audience retention.
The acting of Phuong Anh Dao and Tuan Tran is highly appreciated.
Mai is the third film in Tran Thanh's filmmaking career, after Bo Gia and Nha Ba Nu . The work stars actors Phuong Anh Dao, Tuan Tran, People's Artist Ngoc Giau, Hong Dao...
Premiering on February 10 (the first day of the Lunar New Year), the film quickly earned 23.3 billion VND, with 225 thousand tickets sold on the first day. Once again, Tran Thanh continued to surpass himself when Mai broke the record of Nha Ba Nu (23 billion, 220 thousand tickets) to become the Vietnamese film with the highest opening day revenue of all time.
On social networks, the movie Mai is also one of the top discussion topics, receiving many positive responses from the audience after watching it thanks to its touching story about love, family, and quality from images to music.
During the past few days, Tran Thanh and the cast of the film have also actively appeared at several cinemas in Ho Chi Minh City to interact with the audience. The male director was happy to introduce his passionate film to the audience.
Tran Thanh is happy that the film project is well received by the audience.
Previously, Tran Thanh also revealed the budget for this film project. He said that the film should not have needed that much money, but because of his "personality" of wanting to spend on more scenes, more filming days, better cameras, paying actors... the investment amount was about 50 billion VND.
