World oil prices last week ended their hat-trick of weekly declines, recording a slight increase. Oil prices last week were supported by concerns that US tariff policies would slow the global economy, reducing energy demand.

Oil prices rose slightly in the first trading session of the week (March 17) this week. Oil prices were supported by the US announcement that it would continue to attack Yemen's Houthi forces until the Iran-aligned group stopped attacks on ships in the Red Sea and by Chinese economic data that raised hopes for higher demand.

World oil prices fell about 1% in the trading session on March 18. Oil prices cooled down after US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed moves to end the three-year conflict in Ukraine.
