Forecast of widespread cold in the North
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from tonight to December 11, the North and North Central regions will have scattered rain, with fog in some places in the early morning and sunny in the afternoon. On December 11, the Northeast and North Central regions will have scattered rain. The night and morning will be cold.
Currently, the North has cold air moving south. Around the afternoon and night of December 11, the cold air will affect the northeastern provinces, then the North Central region and some places in the Northwest.
From the night of December 12, cold air continues to strengthen and affect the Northwest, Central Central and some places in the South Central. The wind changes to the northeast, strong level 3 inland, level 3-4 in coastal areas.

From the afternoon and night of December 11, the weather in the North will turn cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold. From the night of December 12, the weather in the North Central region will turn cold. The lowest temperature during this cold spell in the North and North Central regions will generally be 14-17 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas 11-14 degrees Celsius, and in high mountainous areas, some places will be below 10 degrees Celsius.
In Hanoi, from the evening and night of December 11, the weather will turn cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 15-17 degrees Celsius.
Due to the influence of cold air combined with high-altitude easterly wind disturbances, from the night of December 10 to December 13, the Central and South Central regions will experience moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing very heavy rain. Specifically, from the night of December 10 to December 11, from Thua Thien - Hue to Khanh Hoa, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, with some places experiencing very heavy rain with common rainfall of 40-100mm, with some places experiencing over 150mm.
From the night of December 11 to December 12, the Central and South Central regions will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 50-120mm, and over 200mm in some places.
Heavy rain in the Central and South Central regions is likely to continue. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
