Two meaningful animated films about Dien Bien Phu Victory are about to be released

Recently, Vietnam Animation Studio announced that two films, Dien Bien Promise and Dien Bien Cart, both 10 minutes long, are in the process of production and completion to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).

Both animated films were produced by screenwriter Pham Thanh Ha, editor Nguyen Thu Trang and director and artist Bui Manh Quang.

The film Dien Bien Phu Promise revolves around the meeting between an old man and a young boy on the Dien Bien Phu battlefield in the past. Through the veteran's story, the boy learns more about the long resistance war against the French and the world-shaking Dien Bien Phu Victory. Moved by the promise of the Dien Bien soldiers, the boy and his friends fulfill the promise of the younger generation, continuing the tradition of patriotism and national pride.

Meanwhile, the film Dien Bien Xe Tho tells the story of a boy's journey with a cart in the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum. Taking the cart to visit the old battlefield, the boy witnessed the whole Dien Bien Phu Campaign with the extraordinary things, the miracles that our army and people created in the Dien Bien Phu Victory that was famous in 5 continents.

Sharing about her inspiration for writing, screenwriter Pham Thanh Ha - author of two film scripts, said that she had cherished and been assigned the task of finding a script about Dien Bien for a long time. Because writing an animated script about a modern historical theme is very difficult, she had ordered writers for feature films, documentaries, theater... but did not receive any scripts. After watching 3 consecutive episodes of the documentary A1, Mud, Blood and Flowers , screenwriter Pham Thanh Ha was so moved that she could not hold back her tears and was determined to make it happen.

Pham Thanh Ha shared that when writing the script for Dien Bien Promise , she felt like she was fulfilling a promise. The screenwriter wishes to be like the characters in the story, the soldiers who always keep their promises to their comrades, the young generation today who fulfill their promise to preserve and continue the traditions of their fathers and brothers so that good things will never be forgotten.

Because it is an animated film produced for children, the crew hopes that the works will provide young audiences with knowledge about the heroic period of the nation's history of fighting the French to foster and instill patriotism and national pride in the younger generation.

According to screenwriter Pham Thanh Ha, the film Dien Bien Xe Tho is in post-production and will be released on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 2024). The film Dien Bien Promise is in production and is expected to be released to the public in November this year.
