With a voice possessing the beautiful timbre of folk music, singer Bich Hong marks her return with the MV "Nguoi con cua dong song" .
The MV was chosen by Bich Hong to be released close to the 69th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2023), evoking the image of the Red River - the main river associated with Hanoi .
The female singer asked musician Xuan Tri to write the song with the wish to express gratitude to the land of Hanoi - where she was born and raised.
After a period of focusing on teaching at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Sao Mai Bich Hong marked her return with a song paying tribute to the land of Hanoi.
The story in the MV revolves around a beautiful friendship from childhood. In it, the female protagonist is a girl who comes from a family of opera singers, who spends the whole year sailing along the Red River and stops to perform in the northern villages along the river.
The male lead was a boy from a certain village, who was among the children who cheered and enthusiastically watched the opera every time a boat troupe came to perform. The day the troupe left, the children happily took their little friend to the riverbank and kept watching until the boat disappeared.
20 years later, the familiar boat brought the girl back to the old village, to continue her family's traditional opera career and meet the boy again.
A pure and innocent love as certified by the river, leaving behind sweet aftertastes and regrets about the beautiful memories of first feelings.
People's Artist Thu Hien was moved to see her student return to music .
Sharing at the press conference on October 6, Bich Hong said that it has been 6 years since she released a new product. This is a very passionate and meaningful work for her. The whole crew worked hard for nearly 3 years to make the MV after many delays due to storms and COVID-19.
The female singer said that to play the role of the girl in the MV, the most difficult thing for Bich Hong was to learn some of the movements of the opera to be precise and sharp. She was also worried that she was older than the male lead, so the crew had to make him look older than usual.
Some people say that when listening to Nguoi con cua dong song, they can vaguely see the shadow of People's Artist Thu Hien. Bich Hong admitted that she was influenced by People's Artist Thu Hien since she started competing in Sao Mai 2011, got to know People's Artist Thu Hien and then studied with her at the Conservatory of Music. Bich Hong found that Thu Hien sang very simply, with a very good and emotional way of enunciating words.
Also because of the close relationship between teacher and student, People's Artist Thu Hien flew to Hanoi to share the joy with her students. People's Artist Thu Hien was moved and confided that she felt like she had just returned to her own childhood with unforgettable memories.
People's Artist Thu Hien confided that she also spent time working and growing up in the art of Tuong, so she felt that she had many similarities with the female lead character in the MV of this song.
People's Artist Quoc Hung shared that the MV seemed to encapsulate his entire childhood.
Sharing the same sentiment, People's Artist Quoc Hung confided that the MV seemed to encapsulate his entire childhood. The male artist said that when he was young, he and his family lived in a house by the river. Whenever a Tuong or Cheo troupe came by, the whole village would call each other to cook rice early and then bring out mats and bricks to make a place to sit and wait until evening to watch.
Singer Tan Nhan shared that she really admires Bich Hong: "When I watched Bich Hong's MV, I felt a little choked up, maybe because she was so emotional and that's what's special about this product. She sings like herself, simple, rustic and very sweet. Folk is sweet, not showing off technique."
Singer Bich Hong received much attention from the audience after winning a high prize in the Sao Mai Diem Hen 2011 contest. After the contest, Bich Hong pursued her studies and became a music lecturer at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
The female singer loves teaching and wishes to contribute a small part to the development of Vietnam's music industry through training and instilling a love for the profession in the younger generation.
