This morning, about 6,000 candidates began taking the entrance exam for grade 10 at Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted to compete for 315 places. The “race” to get into this school is considered the “hottest” among the specialized schools in Hanoi.

Dr. Vu Van Tien, Principal of the High School for Gifted Students of the University of Education (Hanoi National University of Education) said that in 2023, there were 6,113 applications for the 10th grade entrance exam (an increase of 636 candidates compared to last year), of which the largest number were candidates for the English major.

Candidates will compete for 315 places in specialized classes of Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted (including Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature and English). The quota for the specialized Math class is 70, the specialized English class is 70, and the remaining specialized classes are 35.

This year, the school increased its quota by 10 and only changed the English major. With 2,049 applications, while the quota is only 70, the competition ratio for the English major is up to 1/29.3.

Ranked second and equally high is the Literature block with 35 quotas but there are 998 applications registered for the exam, the competition ratio is 1/28.5. The Biology block has the lowest competition ratio but is also 1/10.2.
