On the afternoon of November 17, Le Courrier du Vietnam (under VNA) - the only French-language newspaper in Vietnam, held the 8th "Young Francophone Reporters" Competition Award Ceremony.
This is an annual French-language journalism competition sponsored by the Asia-Pacific Regional Office (REPAP) of the International Organization of the Francophone (OIF) and supported by the Francophone University Organization (AUF), the Embassies of France, Morocco, Romania, Switzerland, Canada, the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation in Vietnam, the French Institute in Vietnam, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) and Image Travel & Events.

After one month of launching, the contest "Young Francophone Reporters 2023" has received attention, response and active participation from a large number of candidates.
The Organizing Committee received 118 entries from 174 contestants from all regions of the country; 20 contestants and groups of contestants with the best entries made it to the final round.
These articles have been published on the electronic newspaper lecourrier.vn for readers to vote. With the sponsorship of REPAP, these works are also printed in the Special Issue of Le Courrier du Vietnam in pocket book format.
This booklet will be given to the Embassy, international Francophone organizations, universities at home and abroad, and all contestants.
Speaking at the Award Ceremony, Ms. Doan Thi Tuyet Nhung, Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency, affirmed that with each season, the number of contestants and the number of entries has increased (in 2022, there were 95 entries by 119 contestants and this year, there were 118 entries by 174 contestants). This shows the increasing appeal of the contest to young people.
The leaders of Vietnam News Agency highly appreciated the efforts of the Le Courrier du Vietnam newspaper team in maintaining this contest every year, strengthening connections with educational institutions to spread the meaning of the contest, and inspiring young people to love French more.
Ms. Doan Thi Tuyet Nhung also highly appreciated the theme of this year's contest, which conveyed the message: French, the beauty of French culture and language are bridges to connect communities, enhancing sharing among people across the planet.
With the theme “Francophone and Culture of Sharing”, the “Young Francophone Reporters 2023” contest is a playground for young French-speaking people in Vietnam and around the world to share and discuss cultural diversity, one of the top priorities of the Francophone community.
The competition also helps contestants demonstrate their efforts and initiatives through their French writing skills, thereby conveying the vitality of this language.
This year, the Organizing Committee will award 14 prizes including 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize and 2 Encouragement Prizes, along with many other prizes such as "Readers' Choice", "Impressive Contestant", "Dynamic Contestant", "Talented Student", prizes from the Embassy of Morocco, Romania and the prize from USTH University.
Among them, the work "Ton Nu Anh Tuyet - The Fairy of Hue with a heart filled with love for culture and human values" by contestant Nguyen Duc Minh Hoang (Thua Thien-Hue) won the highest prize of the contest.

Sharing at the event, Mr. Pierre Du Ville, Head of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation in Vietnam, Chairman of the Group of Francophone Embassies, Delegations and Organizations in Vietnam (GADIF), said that through the contest, he felt the pride of the authors when writing about their origins, history, culture, architectural heritage, cuisine, and costumes.
The President of GADIF expressed: “Stories honoring Vietnam and the common history of Vietnam and France not only make us happy, but also teach us a lot. The noble mission of every reporter is to bring accurate information to readers and at the same time contribute to expanding their knowledge."
