Creative "playground" for Van Ha fine art wood craft village

This is a breakthrough for the district's craft village products and OCOP products to have their own creative "playground", to promote product promotion, consumption and develop craft village tourism.

According to the Chairman of the Thiet Ung Craft Village Association (Van Ha Commune) Do Van Cuong, Van Ha woodworking originated from Thiet Ung village. After hundreds of years of development, Thiet Ung fine art wooden products have gradually created a brand in the market with its own unique features. Van Ha woodworking village products are quite diverse, from wooden statues, tables and chairs... to reliefs, paintings, wooden vases...

According to Mr. Do Van Cuong, from a purely agricultural commune, Van Ha people have developed woodworking into a strength. Van Ha wooden products are highly competitive, some products have won prizes in handicraft design competitions, and have been voted as typical rural industrial products at the city and regional levels.

In particular, Van Ha wood craft village is one of the few craft villages that preserves and propagates the craft for future generations. Chairman of Thiet Ung Craft Village Association Do Van Cuong said that the craft classes are opened by artisans in the village, teaching free of charge to their children and grandchildren. Currently, Van Ha wood craft village has 14 artisans recognized by the Hanoi People's Committee... From typical craft village products, when participating in the OCOP Program, Van Ha has 31 fine art wooden products recognized as 3-4 star OCOP products.

To promote the development of craft villages, in January 2025, Dong Anh district established a creative design center to introduce, promote and sell OCOP products and Van Ha wooden handicraft villages. This center is assigned to OCOP entities in Van Ha craft village to manage, operate and connect. Head of Dong Anh district's Economic Department Nguyen Tuan Ha said that the center is a place for households producing wooden handicrafts in Van Ha commune to display, introduce and sell wooden products in the area. The center is also a place for OCOP products in the district to participate in display and promotion.

According to the Chairwoman of Van Ha Commune People's Committee Do Thi Hao, the Center for Creative Design to Introduce, Promote and Sell OCOP Products, Van Ha Commune's Fine Arts Wood Craft Village was established as a creative "playground" for the people of Van Ha Wood Craft Village. The center is not only a place for craftsmen to demonstrate their skills, but also an area to introduce the history of the development of the craft village, connecting tourists to shop, experience and listen to stories about the craft here.

Not only that, the center also organizes the construction of a street space to display and introduce Thiet Ung fine art wooden products to attract tourists. Visitors and shoppers can participate in activities to experience making fine art wooden products; participate in activities at the traditional festival of Thiet Ung village - where two generals of the Hung King period are worshiped; visit and learn about the traditional fine art wooden craft at the carpentry ancestral temple, learn about the ancient "Tri thao" contest and listen to the story of "The song of carved soil"...

Vice Chairman of Dong Anh District People's Committee Hoang Hai Dang informed that after the Creative Design Center to introduce, promote and sell OCOP products, Van Ha wooden handicraft village, Dong Anh district continues to research to establish centers in other traditional craft villages. The establishment of creative design centers to introduce, promote and sell OCOP products is the city's orientation so that OCOP products have their own creative and development space. This is also an opportunity to promote the advantages of traditional craft villages, leverage for local economic development, continue to promote propaganda and promotion of OCOP products, support to improve the quality of recognized OCOP products.

The establishment of the center also strengthens trade promotion activities, expands production cooperation, creates conditions for people in craft villages to have better income, and increases resources for Dong Anh district to firmly step on the path of comprehensive development.
