During its CES 2024 press conference, Samsung Electronics collaborated with key partners to outline the technology behind this vision and how AI will be applied to new products and services that make life easier.
Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice President, CEO and Head of the Device Experience (DX) Division at Samsung, opened the press conference by describing how AI is enabling connected technologies to improve people’s daily lives with minimal intervention while operating “in the background.” The strategy he and his team are using focuses on the role of AI in enhancing connected experiences in simple and useful ways. Throughout the press conference, Samsung introduced a range of products and services aimed at achieving these goals.
For example, the Samsung Neo QLED 8K QN900D TV features the most advanced AI Processor – NQ8 AI Gen 3, which is equipped with 8 times more AI neural networks and 2 times faster NPU than its predecessor. Thanks to the NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, the Samsung Neo QLED 8K automatically upscales low-resolution content to 8K for users to have a high-quality viewing experience and sharp, fast-moving images through AI Motion Enhancer Pro.
To meet the various needs of users, Samsung also provides features that support people with disabilities. The sign language feature on the Samsung Neo QLED can be easily controlled by gestures, which is especially beneficial for people with hearing impairments. In addition, the Audio Subtitle feature converts text subtitles into instant speech, which will effectively support people with visual impairments.
Samsung also brought significant improvements to Ballie, the mobile AI robot first introduced at CES 2020. Ballie has now been upgraded to become an AI companion that can interact with other smart devices to provide customized services, such as multitasking, projecting images and videos onto walls, thereby helping users easily monitor important daily information such as the weather or other relevant content anytime, anywhere.
To enhance the kitchen experience and food preservation, Samsung launched the Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub. This refrigerator has a 32-inch screen and a new AI Vision Inside feature, which uses an internal camera to recognize up to 33 different types of food placed in and taken out of the refrigerator, or suggest recipes based on available ingredients. Users can also set a “use by date” on the Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator via the AI Family Hub screen, allowing the refrigerator to send notifications when food is about to expire….

Samsung’s AI technology extends beyond just kitchen appliances. The new All-in-One Washer Dryer – Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ – features an AI Hub, a 7-inch LCD display that acts as an intuitive control center for managing laundry, providing a simple washing and drying experience for users. The appliance personalizes the washing and drying cycles by learning the user’s habits and using machine learning to recommend optimal cycles.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s upcoming Bespoke Jet Bot Combo vacuum and mop robot uses AI technology to provide a more efficient and convenient cleaning experience. With upgraded AI Object Recognition from its previous robot vacuum, the device can distinguish more objects and detect more stains and spaces.
Samsung has been working with Microsoft to create a whole new level of seamless connectivity. Now, these experiences are being enhanced even further with new connectivity features that make the Galaxy Book4 smoother, smarter, and more convenient, reinforcing the commitment between Samsung and Microsoft to provide the best PC experience for users. Using intelligent and intuitive AI technology, Microsoft Copilot connects the Galaxy Book4 to Samsung Galaxy smartphones, allowing the devices to work together seamlessly, giving the feeling of using only one device. Microsoft Copilot can find, read, or summarize text messages from a user's Galaxy smartphone, or even automatically create and send messages from a PC on the user's behalf.
In parallel, Samsung also introduced a series of other AI-based devices and technology solutions. Mr. Han emphasized: “With the emergence of AI, smarter and more optimized experiences will shape our lifestyles. Samsung's diverse portfolio of powerful devices, along with the pursuit of open collaboration, will bring AI and hyper-connectivity to everyone.”
