She ran with joy despite a bloody nose and stains on her face and clothes from a fall she had just suffered.
"About 3km from the finish, while going downhill at high speed, I fell and hit my nose on the road. The blood kept flowing, but I felt fine, so I continued to finish the race," Nordskar wrote on Instagram after the race.
Nordskar finished with a bloody face.
Despite the injury, the Norwegian runner still called Sunday a great day, calling finishing fifth a major achievement. Nordskar also took pride in racing against some of the strongest female trail runners in the world . According to her, having the women start before the men made this year’s Mont Blanc Marathon more competitive and exciting than ever.
The winner of the race on June 25 was American Sophia Laukli with a time of 4 hours 12 minutes 39 seconds - a record for the race. The remaining two spots on the podium were occupied by Chinese runner Miao Yao with a time of 4 hours 24 minutes 27 seconds, and Spaniard Oihana Kortazar with a time of 4 hours 25 minutes 57 seconds.
